Because I've created this picture. Sailor Moon is not my character, but the fanart/picture/art/fanfiction/etc that I have created belongs to me.
Now any person can come and say that he was the creator of this fanart. To prevent such situations, the authors put their copyrights/watermarks/etc to the pieces created, not the characters.
