Description Part 1 of an art trade with . I think I have at least one more planned.

He asked for a girl getting slimed via a contraption of sorts, similar to the He-Man slime chair/stand that was once in the cartoons, comics, and toy lineup. Well... it's close.

Sorry for taking so long on finishing this one. Having to make the slime by hand, when I normally do it first in 3D via a plug in for Poser, is something I rarely do and it took a lot longer than I had planned to finish.

Interesting thing though, once you figure out how to use a simple base color with the dodge, burn, and blend tools, it gets much easier. An excellent learning experience.

And I support the campaign.

I would take her place. LOL.

I would not want to take her place. Cool effect on the slime.

I really doubt that many people would want to either. But, I could be wrong.

And thanks for commenting on the slime. For whatever reason, it took me way too long to get it right, but I at least got some pointers out of doing it by hand. Though, I can't get over how "Predator" like some of the slime looks on her right side. I don't believe I was going for that effect

So you have postwork the slime?

AyaneMatrix In reply to SetoKaibaDesign [2008-11-13 18:29:46 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, I had to do postwork to get the slime onto the girl in the image using Adobe Photoshop CS3. The interesting thing though, I would normally use a python based plugin to add the slime effects into poser before the final render, but when I tried to do it for this picture the plugin froze up and Poser 6 freezes along with it. I end up having to end the process that Poser 6 is a part of and ended up having to render the picture separately and bring it into Photoshop to add the slime.

I still have one or two more images left to do in this way; but, like I said before, I think I have a handle on it now that I understand how to get it to work.

Fingers... cramping!

It looked good and very conving to me. I know the Poser "freeze" problem, like nearly everybody does. When I render complex stuff in P7 and add a lot of relection and refraction and to top it all AO, I can forget rendering it in one piece. And my hardware is not the worst. So you need always to "cheat" a bit and find other ways to get what you want.

The funny thing about Poser 7 and me, I don't get encounter many freeze ups during a render, just the odd "Super Bright" random light effect that sometimes works. It's just so freaking random that it's hard to reproduce effectively or for a bug report. :shakingfist:

And yes, learning to cheat the system when it comes to rendering anything in Poser or a modeling program has been forced into my mind fairly early. Thanks Poser 5 and Maya 3.5!

Honestly though, having really high AO for nearly any piece can be a problem. This especially counts if you have less memory than Poser wants to eat while working on a picture.

But Ao makes such nice effects...I remember when I used it for the first time and thought: "Wow, that is amazing, is this really my render?"...

AyaneMatrix In reply to SetoKaibaDesign [2008-11-13 19:47:19 +0000 UTC]

It can, but on my system, it's also at the expense of render times and excessive memory hemorrhages. But, I could be doing something really, really wrong here.

And another odd note, I noticed that I can get better results with raytraced shadows than with depth mapped ones. Still can't figure out what's going on there.

Skip it on the hair, that will help a lot. I can hint you to get face_offs script, that will make your life with Ao a lot easier

Raytrace may need more time but is far more realistic than deph map. This is due to how these two shadow types work. If you ask me, I would always use RT rather then DM.

I already skip on the hair. It's the worst place to use it! I also think I have one of his scripts for Victoria 4, but not for any other character.

And here's an even odder thing, if you export the same scene in POVRay, I almost guarantee that you will see an exponential growth in the time it takes to render that same scene, same camera angle, but with better IBL Lighting. I think I even waited nearly 2 weeks to get an image rendered, but it still never finished. I was really looking forward to it working well, but I guess I'll have to stick to Poser for the time being.

That is why I never make such experiments
I have once tried Vue because of the eccoSystem stuff, but I am no friend of waiting weeks over weeks to finish a render. and Poser works fine for me...okay, I admit I would love to try out some more advanced render engines too, but I don't want to spend money over money for that.

Hell, even if they work well, you'll end up needing more powerful hardware to get them to move as fast as advertised. Always a pain when you consider that most people can't afford to upgrade till hardware drops in price, then the next "newer and better" thing comes out to kill whatever speed increase you had.

What's why I really wonder about how the PC market is going when you can't keep up with all of the constant growth it has.

Yeah, I am dying for another upgrade too. And I already have 8 gig of RAM...I want MORE!!!

Wow, I barely have 2 gigs in this laptop and 1 gig in my now dead desktop. Hell, I'm going to need a whole new computer soon. And that's just to play the games that work "somewhat" on this laptop.

And I need a job to do anything more than what I'm doing now.

I know how 2 gigs feel...I had only two for a long time until I upgraded. That can solve by the way, a lot of Poser related trouble...

I never play games on my PC...but I have a brand new PS3 that can keep me busy for days and by the way, I think we have one thing more in common: I love Devil May Cry!!!!

In Germany we say :"Koph hoch", to express that someone need to cheer up and don't give up. Better to have no job than having one you loathe...

When you grow up a from using a Mac or some generic PC for most of your life, PC gaming is sometimes a good place to be. But, you're right, my PS3 is pretty much gaming central. Devil May Cry and Metal Gear for the WIN!

But gah, the PS3 is more powerful than most of my computer equipment, which is why I tried to get a working version of Linux on it. And it works! Well, somewhat anyway.

And I hear you on the job portion. I've been through a lot of jobs that just sucked the life out of me. Sadly, one of them was a one that I loved to do for most of the time I was there. I guess it'll be good to let it go and move on.

I am already married to my PC, it would get worse if I started gaming on it. and besides I love to sit on my comfortable couch to play.

Have you tried Heavenly Sword out? I like that too, even if it is very hard. DMC 4 was cool too, but i don't like Dantes new look. He was more cool in DMC 3.

And you can be more productive if you like what you do!

I know, I can just imagine what would happen if my computer was more powerful.

As for Heavenly Sword, I haven't picked it up yet since it's been about $60 for a while now. I really like the demo and it's on my wish list, that's for sure.

Devil May Cry 4, Dante is just older and is one hell of a lot cheaper than he was in DMC3. In my first play though, I managed to get S ranks with him, and only him. Don't even get me started on Nero. He's a bit off for the time you play as him. Then again, I had just finished playing DMC3, original crazy hard version, and using Dante was quite simple after that.

Heavenly Sword is really tricky, but woth it. Superb graphics!!!

Dante is older in DMC 2 too, but still cool and what I call "fangirl-friendly" (funny that a polygon figure can be the content of... well not very childish kind of dreams )
But I will never forgive Capcom what they made him look like in DMC 4. And there were a lot of moments which looked...strange...the creppy theatre parody...the rose...c'mon, that is far away from cool. Capcom should stop taking so much pills. And I was upset that Nevan did not make a comeback...

I still need to test out all his weapons and stuff before facing the last boss which is a bit annoying to me.

I must admit...I used cheats on DMC 3...

Ironically, ind DMC2, he may not have looked much older, but he was not the same smack talking guy that he was in the first game. They got it right in the third one, but that was pretty much explaining what happened in his past. The forth one, admittedly, he is fairly gruff and very, VERY corny with some of his lines. This is especially true during his opera like performance of Hamlet. Truly, truly a corning moment, and that goes with the scene you described after he defeats Berial.

And yes, I was very pissed that Nevan never made it back into this game. She was hot and probably the only boss that Dante didn't have much of an issue with in the third game.

AS for his weapons, Pandora is cheap, especially when charged up. Just go into Gunslinger mode and press O with it equiped as your main gun and watch the fireworks.

Yes, I remember having heard that it was a performance of Hamlet...

Yeah, the hottest game babe ever!!! she would have made a very suitable sidekick/partner for Dante in later games. i would love to play her...

I like the idea behind Pandora. But I prefer Ebony & Ivory so far. Lucifer is not my kind of weapon too, but I need to have all moves before I decide which I like the most.

AyaneMatrix In reply to SetoKaibaDesign [2008-11-14 00:57:22 +0000 UTC]

I bet nearly any guy would have loved to have her as a playable sidekick, but meh things happen and she would have been a distraction. But a welcomed one. It's just as bad that none of the other DMC women are playable and I was at least hoping that Capcom would make them playable in an update or download content at some time. I guess we can't even win there.

Lucifer is good for setting up multihit combos and also good for get in and out tactics where you can detonate the implanted stakes/arrows/whatever from a distance. That's really about it.

Lucia and Trish were playable in DMC2. But even if I liked that game a lot, it still does not feel like DMC game...

We just have to get on their nerves long enough...but the sadly truth is, there are a lot more whinning fangirls that demand Vergil or Nero, or both at the same time in an ultra-special game edition. And they are not very interested in the DMC female characters...

I will keep that in mind when facing the savior.
