Woosh, nice guy and nice tatoo, hehe!~

May I ask what default brush you used for this? I don't think I found it in the tutorial, so my apologies if I missed it. >_<;;

I used the default hard brush and turned the opacity down on it, I'm pretty sure I used my own custom brush with it too. The key is to use the eyedropper tool and essentially blend using your brush in this tut.

It's interesting to see another artist's process.

the finished product is v lovely and i am jealous of your painting skills!!
but honestly i dont get how its a tutorial since you dont actually teach anything its more like a step by step.. kinda misleading

I don't think it's devoid of learning elements at all. That's kind of harsh. After looking at it after I submitted it (I was in quite a hurry) I realized that I needed to put some more tips in.

If you were to look at every "tutorial" like that I think you would realize that they would ultimately be "step by step".

here let me put it this way maybe this will sound less harsh idk im always bad at talking but here goes
i wanted a hamburgerbut i got a pickle chip its part of a hamburger and i like that part of a hamburger its very delicious and its not as though the pickle chip didnt help with my hunger problem or anything but im missing most of my hamburger and im still really really hungry...

hey im not trying to be mean but its like
you showed hardly any process you just said like i sketch and then i put down flat colors merge and then on the next step youve got almost everything done and youre just tweaking it?
no explanation of color theories or thought process or nothin just??
yeah ok every tutorial on da but lets get real here %99 of tutorials on da are step by steps but [link] this is an actual tutorial because real things are being taught in it? im not saying it has to be that extensive but its just all you explained was like the tools you used you skipped everything in shading creating forms etc and thats like %80 of painting and its a "painting tutorial"
dont get me wrong its great to see step by steps!! i just think well i guess i already said it not trying to be a buttmunch

I didn't mean to come off angry or upset either. I was merely trying to explain a bit.

You (or many people) do not know this but I have had no real training in art. I don't read tutorials, and I've had no classes (besides HS) in art on stuff I haven't already figured out. I admit I would love to take some college courses in art and go to a art school. That is what I plan on doing anyways. What I draw are things that I have observed, I have no fancy wording (what is "composition"?) for it, it just is. There is no better teacher than life and I believe all people should use themselves for reference. No amount of tutorials can teach you what life can.

In this "tutorial" I was trying to be vague because I didn't want people to think that this was the only way to do it and that it is 100% right, because it's not. Just throwing in some tips here and there. Which are probably very subtle. This is how I work and it generally works for me. I'm always experimenting on things so nothing is set in stone in that regard.

So I'm sorry that my "tutorial" is isn't a very good one, nor is it that informative, but I will try better to make some things understandable to the viewers. I don't think I can give much insight on specifics because I just understand/draw what is the "it just is".

I had already planned on editing this as it is, but I do not mind more constructive criticism. Thank you c:

(Sorry for the TL;DR XD)

oh np
just for the record ive had.. well one semester of formal training i enjoyed it v much it was a design course but mostly self taught & self learnt?
but learning how and why you do things a certain way is actually really important so ok so you have it figured out whether or not you have the terminology you understand how and why you do things dont you?? so explain that thats pretty much what i learned in my one class for one semester i learned not just what to do because like you said theres not only one way to do things youre right but in teaching pretty much when you arent teaching to someone who has never drawn or colored anything before then what you want to teach is why.. and i didnt get much why out of here except for that one tidbit where you talked about painting over instead of undo and why you do that but i already do that oops but still thats a why so ok that would be an element of a tutorial!! everything else to me seemed like a "i do it this way because i just do" or tweaking for aesthetic purposes
pretty much in my class we learned through failure there were good students in the class but most of us failed the assignment (i say failed the assignment we didnt get bad grades but we didnt complete the objective correctly so even the people who were talented with their technique n shit if they didnt complete the objective correctly or just put up unrelated self-absorbed bullshit expecting to be praised it was considered a failure and it needed to be redone but not like an F..) so i agree that life is a good teacher yeah but basically.. and again not trying to be mean but when youre going to post something as a tutorial usually one expects to learn why you do it a certain way so that they can take that knowledge and use it when necessary... i think the vagueness thing its not just you im fully aware of that trust me!! i know most tuts on here are that vague and people just say "well i dont want you to think this is how you do it so im not going to explain in detail figure it out for yourself do it your own way" im just thinking why is this a tutorial then if youre not going to teach me anything cause you think ill be offended or something?? idk so i think that what people (or at least me) really WANT out of a tutorial is to learn BOTH how and why and we WANT details not cause were going to copy everything you do and be your little shadow and try to draw and color exactly like you or anything but because the goal is to teach a technique and when to use it.. do you get what im saying?? i know im talking in circles i just keep typing til the right words come out sorry
anyway this is tldr too sorry but i just think if you /dont/ understand why you do things a certain way, figure it out and itll be really beneficial to you first of all and second you can actually properly teach it there is my soap box i have stepped off thank you good night im happy i did not offend you i love you and your art and i understand your points and they are valid but yeah..
oh and fancy words who even needs them... color theory you can also say how to manipulate color and composition how you put things together you dont need to use the terminology to properly explain and understand what youre doing you know what im saying
but yeah again liked seeing the process n all i just got in rant mode and it happened to be on you so im sorry but its just because ITS SO FRUSTRATING when an awesome artist does a tutorial and im like YES FINALLY I CAN LEARN SOMETHING FROM SOMEONE WHO KNOWS THEIR SHIT and then i dont actually get to learn anything its like wow what a drag i was really looking for some help there well that was pretty anyway..
