“An item that the Earth science of Ufology will call an Oopart.” She replied cryptically. I sighed. Time travelers talk like that. Sometimes getting them to explain their temporal references was a tiresome task.

“Ufology? Oopart?” was my swift and cynical reply.

Marcella looked over and saw my confusion. “Oh sorry- those words that haven’t been invented in your era. Roswell hasn’t happened yet.” She rose out of the cistern glistening clean at last, like a perfect statue of purest jade. Her natural beauty took my breath away. Marcella then stood and dripped dry- combing her fingers through her silky green hair to dry it also. As she did so, she continued with her scientific explanation.

“Suffice it to say that a flying saucer crashes on your planet in about ten years. Your American government covers it up, of course, but lays the foundations of a study of extraterrestrial space craft known as Unidentified Flying Objects or UFOS. That study becomes known as the science of Ufology.”

“You lost me at ‘flying saucers’”. I replied, breaking apart my pistol and carefully cleaning its inner chambers and pistol barrel with a fragment of my t-shirt. I also counted the ammo I had left. There were only five bullets, five bloody bullets for Hitler.

Marcella, now dry, knelt naked beside me. In contrast to her nude beauty she held the ugly captured Nazi machine gun and cradling it in her arms; she broke it down for cleaning off of sewer muck. She did this as efficiently as any Nazi soldaten could. She too counted her ammo and there was only half clip of bullets left, about thirty in all. That would be enough to provide cover fire, but it was a pitiful amount to go up against
Hitler’s secret time laboratory.

“Oopart?” I queried. “that sounds like a tuba solo at a concert on the village green.”

“An Oopart is a term describing what Ufologists call an Out Of Place Artifact.”, Marcella extrapolated. “It’s an item from another planet. Like me, I guess.” She laughed. “Now this object will stand out from Nazi technology, if I surmise correctly. It’s bound to be of extraterrestrial origin. Remember the Nazis can not have accessed the 6th dimension within the limits of your current Earth sciences. They certainly couldn’t have manipulated the time stream without alien help. My own people have barely begun temporal research
themselves.”

Thanks for including the snippet about UFOs in your art. I think its an important part of the story and gives it an alien feel that it needs at this point. Lest we forget it is WW2 pulp action adventure story involving an Alien Green princess!

In that time people were talking ghost planes. Mystical flying vehicles who has stub wings too small for flying, and who could change speed and direction in weird ways and could stay air even in most terrible weather. Some of those had even lights on them.

You're right! They was also a phenomenon called 'foo fighters' by allied pilots during the war to describe UFOS. The Allied fliers attributed these objects to nazi technology- but noe of this was recovered after the war. Sadly, the myth of the Nazi developed UFO has never been proven fact.
