Description
Part of the "Eyes" PhotoshootThis was a personal project I wanted to do for quite some time and also an experiment with lighting.
A special thanks to AML for painting and washing her eyes numerous times. The shooting lasted around 2 hours, but I learned a lot about lighting and this came out with (in my opinion) awesome shots.
The whole "Eyes" series will be submitted as prints during the next days, and I'll try to make a calendar available out of this series.

Her face is kinda hairy that close up...any way you could clean that up? Shes got a beautiful face...and its a little distracting.
Great shot, otherwise! Colors, lighting, ect. all expertly done. Nice job.

Cool shot. I like the perspective. The focus is also cool.
The makeup in the whole series is cool, was it actually makeup, or face paint? I took some pics the other day but the makeup didn't seem bright or strong enough, I dunno!
The lighting setup is good. Nice and simple, but effective.

It was all make-up. Some parts were made with face paint, but mostly make-up. Though in this one, only make-up was used.
BTW, thanks for the .

I was thinking about holding a compition called Project Lens...and you guessed right! It's for photographers as well as photomanipulators. It will follow the same format as PD but it will be every 2 weeks because photographers need more time to lay out the lighting and stuff (my dad's a photographer). Contestnats in PD are eligable to compete if they wish. If more than 10 photographers and photomanipulators want to compete, i'll have to narrow it down. I was wondering if you would like to compete. If so, send me a note.

Wow, really neat idea! I love this pic! The angle, the pink lips and matching eye makeup…and of course the lighting! Soft and subtle not overpowering. I also like the focus in this—crisp on her lips and the rest is softly blow out. Your hard work paid off, this is a nice piece and looks really nice with the entire series!

The focus is very good, but work on the skin of your model. Make it more softly.

Anyways, thanks for the tip.

I would do this with Photoshop.
You find some tutorials for it here on dA.

I'm not the greatest at critiquing portraits but here goes. The first thing I noticed, after the initial 'that's a face' was the light dot just under the left edge of the model's lips. Almost like a crumb, it reflects a lot of light so it's kind of distracting, you might want to try cloning it out, should be a quick fix. highlights are nice, none are burnt, wich is where I always go wrong, well done. All in all a really nice protrait with a fantastic description. Another complaint would be the light trim on the inside of the border, could you push it a little whitter? it might give more of a sense of focus on the model by reinforcing where the image ends.

Yeah. I just realized about the "crumb" thing. I'll fix that when I get back on my computer. And for the light trimming, could you explain more please, I don't get it.

You have a lighter trim within the black of the main border. What I was suggesting is that you lighten that trim, say to white as an extreme. In the dark area on the left its not quite strong enough to highlight the edge of the photo. By making it white (again as an extreme) a real sense of 'the image stops here!' can be created. This makes the image more comfortable for the viewer (or me at least ) by making the border very apparent, as a result the symmetry of the border really comes through as well. As it is the left hand side of the border seems to be a bit thicker, I realize it's an optical illusion because of the black half of the photo seems to extend into the border. By enforcing the border with a crisp white line you can help fight the optical illusion. That's just me speaking and what's good and not is subjective. If that's still not clear just let me know.

Well... I think I got the most important of it. Thanks for the tip. Maybe I won't do this in this series, but I will probably use it in a near future.
