Description
It's safe in the city...To love in a doorway,
To wrangle some screams from the room,
And isn't it me?
Putting pain in a stranger,
Like a portrait in flesh,
Who trails on a leash,
Will you see, that I'm scared and I'm lonely.
So I'll break up my room.
and yawn...and run to the center of things
Where the knowing one says:
Boys, boys it's a sweet thing
Boys...boys, is a cheap thing, cheap thing...
-Bowie

Thanx Yelena. I've actually been trying to track down Kenneth Angers 'Scorpio Rising' for some time. Right up until last week it hadn't been available anywhere including Youtube.
Amazing film for 1964

Yeah, no kidding... the sixties were so cool that way though, full of contradictions... teaming with electric sensuality eager to bust out of conventional restraints... it's incredible how much mores can change within one decade

Thanx J.Michael. I'm surprised no-one mentioned the reference to Kenneth Angers 1964 film 'Scorpio Rising"[link] but it is incredibly obscure (and amazing for the time it was made)

Mmmm.
Perhaps not the most eloquent way for me to express myself, but you get the idea.

Surprisingly phrases like "Mmmmm' are more eloquent than most standard words. I think it's the highest compliment

Actually when a song sticks in my head I print out the lyrics so I have a little scrap book I can thumb through whenever I need some text.
Sometimes I write my own...but they never seem as good

That's a great idea! Do you categorize them some way? I suck at writing lyrics, because I want to write them in English, but.. well, my mother tongue is Finnish.
Anyway, I'd love to see some lyrics written by you.

βOK thenβ β that reminded me of Johnny Rotten, he said that in the beginning of some song. (As a by the way, dβuh). Have you really written those lyrics? I mean, when I first saw βA Bullet for Joeβ, I thought that those lyrics were great. Those first three lines and the last line, perfect. (I automatically notice the word drug..)
I love writings, that come together with whores, drugs, all kinds of intoxicants and stuff like that. Writings, that come together with all those βbadβ things, that the society doesnβt accept. Itβs hard to describe.
βSix Ways to Sundayβ text makes me smile, somehow. I like your style to write (damn, youβre multi-talented!), and if you write some longer (I donβt know what word I should use in this case β wider, broader, longer?) texts, let me know!

Heh heh...I know exactly what you mean. I love books about whores, junkies and losers on the fringe of society. I read a lot of biography's like "The Johnny Thunders Story' and "Please Kill Me" by Legs McNeil. One of my all time favorites is "Last Exit to Brooklyn" by Hubert Selby. Amazing style, especially when you consider when it was written. "A Low Life in High Heels" by Holly Woodlawn is great to. And funny!
Don't know if you saw this short film I posted in my last journal. Based on Lou Reeds "Walk on the Wild Side" and filmed by stephane sednaoui. God I wish I'd filmed it [link]

Yeah, I also love movies about whores, junkies and people like that - the "Trainspotting" is quite humorous drug movie in my opinion, but for example "The Heart is Deceitful Above All Things" is great. Have you read any Irvine Welsh books? Some people may say they're boring, but I love his style (and also all those characters). By the way, have you read that Iggy Pop biography?
In my situation is hard to get any good books - I mean, I live in the country, the local library is shitty and people have stolen all the good books. And I don't have money to buy all those nice punky books, duh. But I gotta check out those books!
That's.. great.
