Description

СКАЛЫ КАРАНТИННОЙ БУХТЫ”
СКЕЛІ КАРАНТИННОЇ БУХТИ”
KARANTIN KÖRFEZINIÑ QAYALIQLARI

KARANTIN (Quarantine) is not only a medical term, but also the name of one of the most beautiful bays in Sevastopol (Crimea, Russia). Since the days of the ancient Greek polis of the Tauric Chersonese , Karantinnaya Bay —or simply Karantinka—has been the place of temporary isolation of the ships whose crews may have been infected with some diseases incurable at the time. The eastern coastline of the bay—known locally by the name of Skalki (Russian for “little rocks”)—is scattered with chunks of sparklingly white limestone. From there, one can get a picturesque view of Cape Chersonesos complete with the recognizable outline of St. Vladimir Cathedral . On cloudless summer days, the color of the seawater along the shore of Karantinnaya Bay is a pure ultramarine with dashes of brown-red seaweeds and ochre reflections of the rocks.

Thank you for your kind comment. Crimea and Türkiye share a lot of history, as many towns and cities here and there they were founded by ancient Greeks, later conquered by ancient Roman who then turned into Byzantines, then they were controlled by the Venetian and Genoese Italians, then the south of Crimea was a part of the Ottoman Empire from 1475 to 1774. When I see photos and videos shot in Türkiye, I find A LOT of similarities with Crimea.

By the way, Crimea is a sovereign republic within the Russian Federation. We have our own Crimean constitution and three official languages: Russian, Ukrainian, and Qırımtatar. So the name Qırım Cumhuriyeti is one of the three official names of my homeland.

I notice your art and style many times before. I visited many of your submission up to date...Your titles or your comments are so close to my mother language...Besides we feel so close to Qırım because of the reasons you mentioned on your warm comment...I am not racist but I am interested very much with ancient tmes of the region we are living in now. If you can see my photographs most of them are titled by the greek mythology.
Badusev my friend, I am so happy that I found a chance to speak to you. Hope I can meet you on your latest submissions

I have browsed through your gallery, too, and I noticed your profound interest in ancient history of the region, especially its Hellenic period. Although I am not a historian, I dedicate much of my art to the rich historic/cultural heritage that I see with my own eyes in the area where I live.

That's why I am following you my friend, our interest is parallel...
I mean; we are not so skilful to keep those cultural objects very much so, ı must keep them safe in my archive. Thanks for visiting
