Description
Keeping with the theme, here's some info on drawing mouths & lips. I didn't spend much time on open mouth/teeth subjects because they get kind of complicated and sort of deserve a tutorial themselves.
The underlying skull structure is so important to the mouth, because our faces go from flattish to cylindrical. Something to always keep in mind in that area.
If you have any questions, please ask!

This is a fantastic tutorial!
Just one question: Do you have any tips for male lips? I know that they generally have thinner lips than women, but every time I draw them, they end up looking like lady lips unless I leave them off. :S

Thank you!
What I think makes the difference between male and female lips, regardless of size, is that lady lips have a round plumpness whereas male lips are more chiseled and angular. Β Even if a guy hardly has lips at all, you'll still find that there's this chiseled thickness going back from the outside skin to the teeth, you know? Β So turn that outwards as much as you need to for the size of the lips, but keep it flat and chiseled. Β Even the lower lip, try to see one plane on the front and one curving around the bottom and keep the shading sharp so it doesn't get all round and plumpy.
It might be helpful to start with some really lipless guys and gradually increase the shading/deliniation of the lips until you get ALMOST to lady territory, but then stop! Β
I hope that helps.
