Disclaimer : This is not a tutorial by any means, unless you want to use this as one.
I may not follow all of the steps featured here in this exact order, if a backround is more serious than a buch of patterns & colorful blobs, I sketch is together with the main stuff as one composition and color and shade it along the way, so that everything looks like it belongs in the same drawing.
Also this is not accurate to the way I do lineless art.
This was just a fun way to show the way I do my style.

I wanted to to this kind of thing for a long time, I always like it when other artists show their progress and I really wanted to show off mine.
1. Of course, the first step is always a sketch. I never detail them, they only serve as the skeleton for lineart & nothing more.
2. The next step is always lineart (unless I go lineless), which I always try to do smooth & detailed.
3. I remove the sketch and look where I should put the signature.
4. Flatcolor. I usually cheat this step a bit, by duplicating the lineart layer and using the "filler" function to fill in the colors. If I want this layer to have some kind of texture, I draw in the colors by hand with a textured brush.
5. I start shading.
6. I always start off light and then layer the shadows on top of each other. Kind of like in traditional watercolor paintings. I also add lighting.
7. More shading and more details to it and the lighting. I almost always add a colored layer on top of all of that to give the drawing some kind of a funky shade.
8. The last step is adding the effects. For that I just play around with layering textures, patterns or other stuff on top of the drawing. This step is not neccessary to the process.
As I said before, everything backround-related wholely depents on what kind of backround I want to draw.

Also my model here is Balan because... comfort character reasons.
