Thanks! I'm not the best at painting.  I mess up all the time.  The great thing about acrylic paint is that, if you mess up, you can wipe it off  as you're painting and try again.

Cool. I just stuck with colored clay. But you did it exactly right!

I think I'll try to do a clay figure of one of the gems one day.

I use colored clay as well and then paint over it to get the color and details I want.
