Description
It was so bright it burned white in his eyes, even though they were closed. He didn't remember it ever being so bright. Confused, he propped himself up and opened his eyes to slivers, tears filling them up in rebellion against the blinding light. Blinking, he tried to make them adjust faster. He didn't have time to be blind. When he could finally see, he noticed he was... Where? Everything was green. Things could be green? He chanced a look up, and saw the sky was blue. An endless, empty, blue expanse. He felt fear start to grip him. He could hardly breathe too. How had he gotten here? Where was here? Who was he?Xephos.
He relaxed a tiny bit. His name. He was Xephos. He remembered crashing... Did he? When he looked around, there was no place anything could have crashed. No fire, no disturbed ground, nothing. And he wasn'tâ injured at all. Had he really crashed? Or was he imagining it all? Where was he from? Xephos. Xephos. It was all he could remember and believe. His name. He got to his feet and looked around. Alone. Utterly alone, in a foreign place. He didn't have the slightest clue what the organic-looking objects stretching into the sky around him were. He felt fear flood him again. He hated being alone. Alone was bad. Dangerous. He could barely breathe now, gasping for air and getting nothing. He forced himself to take deep breaths, and it worked a little bit. His lungs felt sore, but he could breathe well enough. He had also relaxed. He would be okay. He could see. Nothing would sneak up on him.
He tried to take a step, planning on exploring a little bit. He collapsed with a yelp. He was weak, most likely from a combination of fear and being unable to breathe. That was fine. He would be okay. He noticed the green stuff below him was cool and soft, and smelled nice. Like how he'd always imagined a rich, deep green to be. He heard a sharp snap and jerked his head up, looking around. What was it? Danger?
A strange creature seemed to come out of nowhere, walking up to Xephos. He felt afraid of the creature, of the unknown. It was short and round, with a large, firey red beard. Its eyes were blue, and it seemed to only be wearing pants and various metal plates. The creature stopped a few meters away and started speaking. Xephos could tell he was asking questions, but he couldn't understand. He got more fearful as he saw the creature's face grow more and more frustrated. He seemed to be speaking in several different languages. The words, already unfamiliar, were sharp, harsh, long, and loud. The creature stopped talking and walked up to Xephos, sticking out a hand suddenly. He flinched away, expecting to get hit.
Xephos noticed the next word said was different. It was softer. It was short. Simple. He liked the word, how it sounded, so he repeated it. "Friend."
The person's face lit up, his smile so wide Xephos could see his teeth. He didn't know what he had said, but he felt his fear melt away. He wasn't alone anymore. He took the still outstretched hand, accepting the help up. He felt that he would be okay as long as he was by his new partner's side.
