Description Base held Veejay tightly, rubbing her back and stroking her quills as she sobbed into his shoulder. Base looked along the wall of graffiti in front of him, silently fantasizing of repainting the walls with Magellan and his crew's limbs. The hate that had filled him earlier, an itching anger, fueled by the idea that Veejay had thought that it was better he'd been in the machine than her, was gone.

He had been wrong to think it, Veejay had taken his roboticization harder than he had. Base recalled a time he had found Bunnie by herself sitting by the Power Ring Pool, she'd been sobbing over her limbs, she felt cursed and felt she'd never been normal again.

"...they're a blessing...and a curse...depending on how you use them." Base remembered aloud.

Veejay leant back looking at him, her face twisted with sorrow, unable to form a word between sobs, but he knew what she was asking. Tears rolled down his cheeks, but he smiled regardless,"The limbs...I'm just remembering home...is all."

Veejay slowly leant back to his shoulder, feeling the tears coming again. Base held tightly,"Veejay...as long as I'm here, you'll have one person at least...who has your back regardless, little sis."

"Is...that some sort of joke...on what you said back at the Roboticizer?" she managed between sniffs and sobs.

Base thought a moment, what had he said? He said, Me first, I'm older...

He chuckled, despite himself,"Yeah...its a barrel of laughs. So...who's Daviel?"

Veejay sobbed louder, clutching the lapels of his jacket,"My....son."

"Son?" Base said lifting a brow.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Veejay was asleep, having cried herself to sleep, Base had removed his leather jacket and folded it up so her head was resting on the soft back like a pillow. He sat against the wall staring out one of the few windows of the building, staring into the moonlight. She'd told him everything; Daviel, her husband James, the nomads, how she had them with the nomads to protect them from Robotnik, how she made regular trips to be with him. She'd sobbed louder then.

"I'm a horrible mother! I can't even be with my own son!"

Base had grabbed her shoulders and shook her,"At least he KNOWS his mother!"

She didn't retort, her eyes rimmed red from her tears, but Base trudged onward,"At least...his mother WANTED him, neither of my parents..." Base trailed off.

How long ago had it been his adoptive parents had discovered the truth behind his real ones? The sniveling cowards had abandoned him at a month old, because they didn't WANT to be parents yet.

Veejay had burst into a fresh burst of tears, and Base looked to the stars for the first time that night,"You're not a horrible mother...you're just a struggling one."

Back to the present, Base's mind caught up with it again, he stood, looking down at the sleeping form. He turned towards the door, all he could think of now, was Magellan and his crew, Base had proclaimed himself her big brother, and swore his loyalty, and with his loyalty, came his protection.

No sooner had he opened the door, he was met with an elderly gentleman, a cougar, Base closed the door behind him and stood tall in front of the door,"One of Magellan's?"

The cougar smiled, shaking his head,"Oh non, please to be putting that out of your misery."

Base instantly felt himself warming to the old coot, it was like listening to Antoine, it was like, a little piece of home, he smiled despite trying to maintain his tough appearance,"Alright, pops, if you're not here to take a shot at Veejay, what're you here for?"

"Well, we were scheduled for a chest game-"

"Chess."

"Chest."

"Fine, I'll fold." Base crossed his arms in front of his chest.

"Oui, yes, well, when I arrived, I found her home in disarray, it was, how you say, ze pig's eye? Ze horrible graffitis was everywheres, and I knew zat Magellan had to be behind it, oui? Veejay comes to ze factories for zer piece of her quiet. So I came looking for hers." the cougar said this, as if this were a normal occurance for him.

Base nodded,"Well, apparently the group of dead men came here first. She was met with as much, if not more graffiti here, she's resting right now."

"Restings?" the cougar questioned.

"Yeah, as in she's been taking it rough on herself and probably hasn't slept in some time." Base walked toward the cougar, passing him.

"I am Antony D'Callais. It is ze pleasure to be making your aquiantances."

"Meetcha..." Base muttered.

"Where are you goings to in ze so fast hurry?"

"I'm going to feed Magellan his head through his ass, and anyone who gets in my way gets fed to his ass too." Base said storming toward the village.

Antony followed him, slowly,"You sink it is so easy to walk in and start to punch your way through them?"

Base didn't glance away from his path,"Why not? Veejay's done it."

"Veejay is stronger than-"

"Veejay's can fight, yes, but so can I. The only reason she won our first fight was because she had the element of surprise and Mission's last lesson hadn't truly taken in my head."

"What lesson was zis?" Antony said with genuine curiosity.

"Defending yourself against a female fighter doesn't make you a woman beating schmuck." he stopped, and looked at the cougar,"Since you seem set on accompanying me, how about you tell me a little more about Veejay and the nomads?"

Antony raised a brow,"She was tellings you about Daviel and James?"

"Why not?" Base started walking toward the village again,"we're practically family."

Antony smiled,"Family is thicker than ze blood zat binds them, though, we have ze ceremony for such a sing we learned from wolves and echidnas." he said matter-of-factly.

"You mean the Wolfpack's blood rite?"

"You know of zis?"

"I spent some time with the wolfpack up north, and saw the ritual first hand."

"You must regails me with ze story!" Antony coaxed.

"First," Base said, pointing a finger to Antony's nose,"you tell me about the nomads...and how to find them."

"Why would you want to be knowing zis?" Antony said with a raise of his brow.

"Think of it as a mission of mercy? To set Veejay's mind to rest about being away from them so often."

"What do you means?" Antony tilted his head.

"You'll see. You remind me of someone back home, its kinda nice."

"I am thanking you for the compliment if it was?"

"It was." Base said with a roll of the eyes and a smirk.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Base's feet touched in the middle of the village, Antony had split from his path, excusing himself, saying that while he could fight, he was quite old to be tangling with youths, Base only gave him a smile and a nod.

Base was here for blood, he would beat Magellan to within an inch of his life, as he'd wanted earlier. His voice shot through the air,"MAGELLAN! HAREBIT! COME OUT HERE!"

Huts across the village opened, Magellan stepped out of one to Base's far left, he came walking towards Base slowly,"How's th' arm feelin'?" he said with a sneer.

Base glared at him. Magellan's crew knew that look, it was like Veejay had possessed his face. It went right over Magellan's head,"I'm bettin' ya came to ask help in whalloping Veejay, its just as well, I figured you'd be itching for revenge, and a prickly whore like her-"

The sentence didn't finish, Base's fist found its way into his muzzle, a small CRACK! as the fist collided with its target. Magellan held his nose,"-gwhut thug fug?! Gmy gnose! You fugging brogke my gnose!"

Base threw the first punch, and many others were coming his way now. He braced himself, he ducked low and charged forward, dropping low onto his metal arm and kicking around he gripped one attacker by the neck and spun and brought him into the second, no one else had come forward, and when Base got back to his feet, he was met with a blow, Magellan had struck him in the metal eye.

Magellan brought his fist back and shook it,"Damn! Like punching a SWATbot!"

Base smirked and leapt forward, he punched Magellan in the mouth with his metal fist, giving a sharp twist of the body, bringing the metal elbow into the side of his face. His real hand shot for Magellan's left ear and tugged down. A yelp, then a scream. Magellan had brought his right fist at Base's head again, Base had caught it, and giving a twist that was supposed to be a simple arm bar, had actually broken Magellan's arm by twisting it right out of socket; some intense surgery would be needed to fix that.

Base grabbed Magellan by the shirt and body slammed him face first into a wooden table, dragging his face through the wood then slamming him against the side of a hut. Magellan had three horizontal cuts over his left eye, peppered with wooden bits.

Magellan looked down at Base, the look in his open eye was of impending fear, Base's left arm shook, as if holding it back from crushing his skull in was against its programming,"You good and afraid?"

Magellan shook his head defiantly, and spat in Base's real eye, Base brought his fist up fast, slugging him in the mouth, a few teeth were spat out, Base growled,"You and your cronies are going to clean up the mess you made in Veejay's hut."

"Oh suddenly you're so fond of her? Me and m'mates aren't doin' shit!"

WHAM! Another fist in the face, Magellan squirmed,"Crown polisher! you'll just throw your allegiance to anyone who takes pity on you! Are you so desperate for acceptance?! Or is that just what half biotics like that whore with the metal legs up there are like?"

Base snarled he brought his fist back for another swing, two hands grabbed his arm and held it fast. He turned his head to see who it was; it as Veejay.

Veejay, her eyes still red, she still looked like deep fried hell, his jacket was draped over her shoulders,"Not like this, drop the pecker head."

Base looked to Magellan, then to Veejay. Veejay gave Base a soft smile,"He's going to need false teeth and I think those three cuts over his eye are going to scar, plus he's got at least a year of healing ahead of him for the arm."

"But...but he-!" Base stammered.

"Let him live, Base. That's an order." Veejay said, stern faced.

"What is there in saving him for you? After all he's done to hurt you?!"

"I save him, and he spends the rest of his life trying to make amends to the skank he owes a life-debt to."

Base looked at Magellan, who looked worse and worse by the second as he squirmed,"He and his punks can start by fixing your home. I'm going to be leaving for a little while, some business elsewhere. If I find out when I come back you even spit in her food, I swear to any god out there you will answer to ME."

Magellan shook on Base shouting ME at him. Base dropped him and lead Veejay away, seeing Antony at the end of the village, sly old man, went and got Veejay.

Magellan stood up,"I knew you were the whore I always said you were, how else would you get someone who hated you to side with you so eas-"

Two feet found their way into his chest, sending him backwards into the hut and slumping to the ground, Base and Veejay had both kicked back, hitting him square in the chest. The two walked back towards Antony.

Base looked to Veejay,"So, the life-dept count even if you kicked him in the chest?"

"I saved his life, I never said I'd let him get away with being a dick."

Not sure if this story is satisfactory, but at least the image above was decent. A continuation from 's part of this.

What happened to Veejay? I'm a bit curious and I feel like it's annoyingly obvious and I'm just NOT SEEING IT.

Not exactly obvious. What happened is actually found in a story in my sis' gallery.

That should clear it up.

Oh. Thank you/ I guess it was kinda obvious to me because I had looked for that story in her gallery but couldn't find it.

They are both really good stories, nontheless.

Well...
How on earth it is you use space so well enough to draw in your proportions without fear. I mean seriously, I really notice it whenever you draw hands but I especially noticed it in this one with his mouth. Not to mention the whole grasping shirt like he owes him money. Sorry Didn't read it. Anyway, Even though you can partially see the frame work you still have a sense of what is actually drawn and the details on the clothes show up so well. HOW!?! How on earth do you manage to do this and make everything look right. GAH! It's like the epitome of why I fail at drawing. Missing the little things like that. Good luck finding the flashlight for this one.

Without fear? I'm always worried that what I write or draw won't be well received, especially if when I do it, its FOR someone or involves someone else's persons. I'm afraid I view my own art with quite the skeptics eye, so I can't quite see things the way anyone else does.

I'm not sure how I do these things, I'm still not convinced I do.

Jeeze tell me about it. The whole Michelangelo Complex wears away at me constantly. Mostly from other friends who dont understand what I've created. Drives me up a wall sometimes. Another thing is that damn question "Did you draw this?" GOD No I carry a book around that just so happens to have a collection of my friends OC. I'm still not convinced that I achieve what I do either. My style, whenever I draw it, feels so unprofessional, you know? I look to your work as a glimpse into professional drawing/sketching.

basically the man was peeved whenever no one could tell what he was going for and to boot would not believe that he created it. That is why in "The Pieta" Michelangelo scribed his name. Basically like "Michelangelo did this." Makes you wonder how "(Name) was here" came about.

I had to keep scrolling up and seeing Magellan looking for all the world like a frightened BITCH. Part of me keeps going "Ouch!" and the other goes "Yyyyyyeeeeaaaah, he had THAT coming a mile off!" XD

The two-kick chest wallop had me laughing out loud! Mage never shuts his mouth where it counts, and I so picture that happening! I have ideas for Antony and Vee-Jay next to continue off, with their game of "Chest" - I'll show you exactly what Antony meant by that. It's more a chess game coupled with a sparring ritual. I'll have the art talk for me =3

And you portrayed Ant perfectly. That's him, all of it, that's how he is, that's how he acts. And yes, the graffiti thing has happened before, just not on that scale, and Antony's been the one she trusts enough to go with her to find the nomads - precious few hours with her son and husband - whilst Ant negotiates the trading. James became leader of the nomads when their former leader, Hygar (a white tiger) died trying to protect his family and James and Daviel from an ambush. It's a position he took up only at Vee-Jay's request. The tiger had saved her skin more than once, it was only fair that in some small way, they repaid him for that life-debt by looking after his team. Hygar's middle name was Daviel, so VJ chose to name her son after him.

Base's first encounter with the Nomads would be through Arlo, James's second in command (a Pangolin, also half-roboticized). It'd be a mutual understanding, and possibly a shared solution through a manipulation of the nanite technology they stole. Base would probably come to grips with the fact Robotnik never based the nanite tech's power solely in Robotropolis; that its origins began on Downunda and quickly spread outwards to the point of completely independent mobile roboticizers and the like. It'd be a whole different ballgame on this continent, and a few situations would have him thinking Sally and Sonic wouldn't stand a chance if they were applied from this place to theirs...

I ramble too bloody much! I need to get on with drawing the continuation of this!

*clingsto*
I love this, I love it so much, big bro! Thank you

You had to keep scrolling up?X Just to make sure the beating in the story kept up with the damage? Or was it just satisfying to see an ass clown like that take a thrashing?

Good to know, and I'm glad I'm doing well enough with this so far, I keep worrying I'm gonna botch it. XD I'll be looking forward to that, sounds interesting so far, the visual aid will be fun to see. ^^

Great to know, once again, I was afraid I'd botch that up something severe. XD

Ah, so that's where his name comes from, are the nomads straight wanderers or are they akin to fighting if trouble comes looking? I'm not sure if upon seeing Base they'd assume he was a robian and attack or just be wary. How would he go about meeting him, would it be just coming across him while out seeking the nomads or a run in somewhere nearby? A pangolin huh? The armored anteater? Hm. It would make sense that nanite tech was started somewhere away from Robotropolis, and as quick as Base would come to terms with the idea that Robotnik is developing things further, all the same, he'd be completely in the dark about the whole thing at first, and probably excited about helping out other half roboticized and full on robians with the tech. Of course, you're right, after realizing its full potential, or seeing it, Base would realize if it were brought north, the FF might find themselves up shit creek, though he still can't return, being a wanted felon for betrayal of the crown and assault on the king, well, attempted murder. Which will start the origin of a certain part of Base's existance. Eventually, I'd assume Base's whereabouts would be discovered, and Sally would try and make an exchange for his arrest, or at least the king would.

It was fucking satisfying seeing Mage get a comeuppance from someone other than Vee-Jay

The nomads are a bit of both - originally under Hygar they were straight wanderers, a bit like the lost echidnas, they had no fighting prowess whatsoever and were akin to leave others behind if Robotnik's forces attacked them. When Vee-Jay appeared (a long past story about her "exile" she's yet to tell Base about), Hygar realised the problem called Robotnik was not going to go away quickly. VJ unwittingly led a particular nanite-controlled robot directly to them and as such, saved Hygar's life nearly at the cost of her own. Hygar kept her alive until Robotnik sent a remake of that 'bot towards her home, to which she returned, much to Magellan's chargrin. Whilst her exile did not end with her return to help her team, in fact another year was tacked onto it, it did however put the Harebit at odds that Vee-Jay clearly was a better leader - despite her exile and despite being told it would lengthen, she came home to help them fight the bloody thing...

Hygar did not speak of the injury (internal bleeding) he suffered coming to VJ's rescue from the attacking 'bot. It was this injury that eventually killed him, and then fell to Vee-Jay, whom Hygar considered a blood-bonded ally, to choose his successor. Arlo was at first chosen, but in a short while refused to be called leader. He considered himself a follower and protector, not a leader. James eventually rose in Arlo's place, and after that change, the Nomads would begin to understand that running was futile. They'd had enough blood spilled on the Strezleki Desert Sands by Robotnik. James believed that Hygar was merely following his predecessor's way of life from before Robotnik rose to power, thinking it would sustain them for another generation. When it became clear it wouldn't, Hygar's first instinct was self-preservation, leaving anyone behind, even women and children. With nearly a year and a half remaining of Vee-Jay's exile, both hedgehogs fought for each other and for the tribe; in doing this, VJ gained respect from the nomads, enough to be called their leader's third, and eventually it came as no surprise to them when she and James fell in love. Daviel-Trevian, their son, was born nine months later.

With Daviel's birth however, now the Nomads had a problem - Vee-Jay could no longer stay with them. If Robotnik discovered his 'main pain in the ass' from Downunda had a child, he'd hunt down the family...and the tribe protecting them. Knowing if she returned early with James and Daviel in tow, the exile would be lengthened again, so VJ came to what many of the Nomads believed was a decision they could never do - she chose to leave her son with her husband and return to her own team alone. Vee-Jay could see no viable reason for the boy to return with her, it would only mean trouble and her hands were already tied keeping her team alive. James already could see where the choice was going, and agreed, despite breaking his heart that he and their son would only see his mother once, maybe twice a year if they were lucky. Whilst the arrangement worked, VJ told James to never reveal Daviel's existance to the other Freedom Fighters. It would just mean outside sources could very well lead Robotnik to his "solution" for her roboticization.

When Daviel was a year old, a heartbroken Vee-Jay returned to challenge Magellan for her title as leader. She won, and this caused enough friction to split the DFF in half - one faction led by VJ (Stars, represented symbolic by the Wedge-Tailed Eagle flag), the other by Magellan (Zeroes, represented symbolic by the 'invading' Black Panther flag). Other factions that had joined them, like Jeremiah and Benjii and their remaining tribes, Harrison and those at the Temple to the west and Kristopher and his aerial attack force, remained with Vee-Jay out of endearment and respect. Magellan's team literally consists of only seven members - they may as well be considered exiles themselves thanks to their brainless leader.

The nanite tech incidents began to spiral out of control upon Vee-Jay's return, Magellan believing something VJ had done out there with the Nomads had speeded up their production - when in reality, Robotnik was using the Downundans as testing grounds for his other pains, like Sally and Sonic. This would not become clear until, satisfied that the technology was good and ready, ol' blubberbelly uprooted from Downunda, leaving the AI technology to 'grow' and 'perceive' its own threats. One of the largest factories, built on the ruins of Australis City, was being fully maintained by the nanites themselves. It was this place that the DSFF raided, discovering just how crazily powerful the stuff was. The main AI however was someone none of the Downundans expected to find, and in 'befriending' it, discovered more about the Crown of Acorns and the return of Prince Elias and Queen Alicia than they ever expected to be told...

With the hate for the Crown still boiling below the surface, Maximillian made a bid for Base's return, but sent Sally instead - one, out of fear that the Downundans still bore the grudge from the beginning of the Robotnik War and two, to successfully gauge how capable they were as an attack force. Max never told Sally the reason why he sent her to retrieve Base - Sally believed she was finally regaining control over her Freedom Fighters.

Vee-Jay and several of her number (Terrence, Josef, Antony & Dylan) sent she and Bunnie packing the first time in Of A Traitorous King , only to have them return looking for Base. I figure this time, Sally believes her second visit would be met with a better response when she encounters Jeremiah and Benjii and their echidnaen tribe at the coast, making mention that Base is a traitor wanted for an attempted assassination on King Acorn. By this point, Base would be a trusted ally of Vee-Jay's and subsequently them as well, and the only thing Jeremiah would get out of her spiel is that the Acorn Kingdom can't let shit go XD And I swear to god, Jeremiah would have Benjii arrange a meeting between the Princess and their REAL leader, probably with a grinning smile that would look friendly but say to everyone else "I'm gonna enjoy watching a Royal brat get totally and utterly fucked over, leave me alone!"

I figure also that Sally coming nose to nose with Vee-Jay again probably would end up similar to the above pic of Base and Mage, only that VJ doesn't need metallic limbs to get her point across X3 Either that or she'll come up with a "deal" of sorts, possibly to de-roboticize Base first with her accompanying them to Robotropolis to oversee the procedure (both to see firsthand what the damage is and secondly to get a good glimpse of whether or not Robotnik has seen it fit to use the fully ready nanites against the Crown yet), and later maybe escape with a de-roboticized Base, further driving the wedge between Downunda and the Crown, maybe? But I figure Base would see VJ's decision as a betrayal first and foremost before realising her chaotic-neutral personality won't let her give him up that easily. She'll probably come away from the event missing a few fangs (Sally's lucky punch) but call it a worthwhile venture - it's not everyday a Royal brat throws an actual punch that lands LOL

I think also the events with VJ's meeting with Kita and her friends would tie into this storyline - Robotnik moving into deadlier territory with his nanite-related tech would see it fit for the Downundans to make a personal visit. The end result would be Kita and VJ ousting an old enemy of both of theirs and the Crown in exchange for Base's freedom. It was a longshot that the King, to Sally and Elias's surprise, readily agreed to. VJ returning home with a letter for Base bearing the Royal Seal might start a whole new series of events from there, perhaps?

But I'm getting too far ahead. I'll be done with that artwork/story snippet shortly =3

Hm, Elias on the throne by now? At this point I'd figured this was the first return of the king, as its sort of the reason why Mission ended up dead. In full disclosure on that, when she arrives in Knothole having tracked Base down, she arrives to find he's gone 'soft' as she'd put it when he goes to shake her hand and she flips him on his side with the same amount of effort it takes to butter toast. For the next month of her time there, she spends it drilling him to near death trying to get his skills back to how they were when they'd parted, feeling that the simple life in Knothole has softened him rather than having to survive on his own.

Eventually, her harsh training almost brings her to blows with Bunnie over the things she has Base doing(now that he's older, the training is considerably harsher than when he was 8). But eventually, Base starts to show progress, when Mission tries to sneak a cheap shot on him and she realizes he's started wearing a cup, as her very first techniques taught to him were Krav Maga, which, is basically a series of blocks and ball kicks. >_o;

From there, the King takes notice that Base's progress is going by leaps and bounds, and decides to Knight him dubbing him the Knight of Knothole. After the ceremony, Mission has decided to give Base praise for his work, which would be a first, she'd spent her life trying to make him try harder by telling him he couldn't, so he would out of spite.

The King brings Mission in and orders that Mission defect to Robotnik and spy on him. Mission at first informs him where he can stick his orders, to which the King informs her, if she doesn't do it, he'll have Base framed as a traitor to the crown and executed. Mission, despite her solitary life, had become attached to Base having grown up with him, and reluctantly agrees, to which the King informs her if she tells anyone, the deal is off and she AND Base will share a cell.

The next day during a raid on Robotropolis, an encounter with Robotnik is one with Mission as well. Base, not believing she'd defect tries to get the truth out of her, in response, she beats him down. Being high up from the ground Robotnik orders a SWATbot to show him the color of Base's brains. Mission acting quickly says she'll finish him and tosses him off the building top, Base is caught by Sonic and returns to Knothole with the news. The King orders Base to take care of Mission, claiming she's his liability, and threatens him with prison and execution, claiming he needs to prove he's not on her side.

Another month goes by, Base consistantly running into Mission and trying to defeat her without killing her. Mission of course, realizes her death is the King's true reason behind this, why she has no clue, and realizes for Base to truly be safe from what the King threatened, she has to die, if she were to up and leave, it would still end with Base on the chopper's block.

Eventually, the final confrontation comes, as Base and the FF are leaving Robotropolis on a run, they're met by Mission at a small grassless field outside the Great Forest. Base tells the rest to leave, and he engages Mission alone.

During the battle Base manages to disarm her, and she breaks his sword in half with her hands and gets back her own sword, leaving Base disarmed and using his gauntlets as shields. Eventually, Base regains the upper hand, disarming her and throwing her against a tree. Using her own sword, he orders her to yield.

"You're still so soft hearted..." she says, then grabs the sword and plunges it into her stomach.

She tells Base that while at Robotropolis, she found out about the plot that had sent her to Robotnik's side, telling him the files are located in Downunda. With a final goodbye, Mission fades, leaving Base alone in the cold field. Base returns to Knothole with his report, and to go to Downunda.

Robotnik arrives on the scene and orders Mission's body returned and Roboticized before she dies.

Base goes to Downunda on his first trip, and finds several messages of exchange between the King and Robotnik, as well as video footage from the King's eyes of his talk with Mission. Base is back in Knothole in as little time as he can manage. He seeks an audience with the King; once inside, he leaps at the King and starts trying to tear his head off. The full brunt of what's going on has hit Base, Robotnik has a spy in camp, and its the King. When Base tries to wrench whatever video device is behind the King's eye, he finds to his surprise, its a robot. The eye is placed back in socket, as Sally comes in to find Base beating the 'King' to death. She calls for the guards and engages Base herself. Base at this point still clinging to the notion that he isn't supposed to hit females, even fight capable, just escapes, Sonic gives chase, but lets him go, believing Base when he tells Sonic things aren't as they seem.

Base returns to Downunda for the second time, as he has wandered there on accident. Greeted warmly the second time around, he returns to the place he found the information before and tries to find more, coming up short. He returns to Downunda, beaten, and depressed, he's lost it all; his childhood friend and teacher, his adopted family, his credibility, his whole life. Veejay jumps him again, grabbing him by the neck and pinning him to a tree ready to thrash him again, Base doesn't even blink, he looks pathedic. Veejay takes pity on him and just returns him to the village.

So, at this point I haven't really even though of including Elias, but I'm also not a big fan of the comics post-Endgame, I absolutely refuse to even acknowledge Eggman as the new Robotnik, he's no villain in comparison to Julian Kintobor. Plus the comics continue to take a swan dive in the toilet, so I'm trying to maintain one foot in the universe while maintaining my individual storyline for how things play out. Call me quirky. XD

But getting far ahead is fine, the first Red Rose is going to make their debut during this storyline it looks like, which is cool. XD

Hell, I'd prefer to keep it just to Robotnik.

Eggman is not a villain. He's a renamed Robotnik who's apparently worse than the original. I'd like the original back, kthx.
Julian Kintobor was brilliant. Here was a son of a bitch hellbent on annihilation on a global scale. Not some insane, straitjacketed fool who only sought to wipe out a single "village"-type Kingdom - forgetting that other forces besides them existed and obviously who never kept kept back-up records of all the Freedom Fighters in existance. I don't like villains who are suddenly all-powerful and strangely enough forgetful of everything they've already fucking conquered. That's the mark of taking a villainous character, wiping the slate clean and calling it "Sonic broke his mind" in a pitiful attempt to explain this "all new character". Sorry, I like my Overlanders mean, fat, ugly and full of bastardry!

I feel Elias has a lot of unshown potential. Archie writes him as a pathetic Prince who ran away, became a man and has been a pansy-assed King ever since. In my writings, he's capable of raising more than a hand to stop an invasion than he is content to sit around letting the Council own his ass with every decision he makes or tries to make (*cough*Hamlin*cough*). I write him as being at complete odds with his sister - there's a respect in the eyes of their father and mother, but little else to call them siblings. They'll act out the famous "loving royal family" bullshit, but when the cameras are out of their face, they'll more than likely rip the other apart. I wrote them in Soiny's gift as being all buddy-buddy at first, for appearances as Hamlin eased towards in so few words, but I have yet to get into the nitty-gritty of Part III and beyond. Those two are hardly the loving siblings they portray and it becomes well-clear after a few "choice" words are said. It's a joy to get into the psyche of these "set" characters the Comic tends to lock into a particular personality and leave it at that. In my honest opinion, even if Sally did get married to Sonic in the future, she would hardly be an understanding Queen in regards to his yearning to return to the better days of being able to traverse the globe and save others. Sonic is a fish out of water as King of Mobius, they touched upon it but didn't go further with it. It left a LOT to be desired of the so-called "set 30 years later" future.

I figure Sally demanding Vee-Jay turn Base over would not end well, regardless of the fact she's the Princess of Mobius. Unlike Base, Veej has got NO qualms about smacking the royal brat right in the muzzle. And then doing it again for good measure. Probably calling it " A force of habit, I'm so sorry" - even Base would read that as bullshit XD! I think Sally would be the type to try and garner information on Vee-Jay, only to be told a number of different stories and maybe, on impulse, bring it out as accusation during the negotiations for Base's release into Acorn custody. I think the convo as I wrote it down at work was:
"Isn't it true you've had...relations...with the other Downundan leaders? Further relations, even?"
"You're one to talk. Knuckles The Echidna, Cat, Rotor Walrus - of whom you affectionately refer to as Boomer - Antoine D'Coolette, Ari The Ram, goddess knows who else. Yes, your conquests are pretty damned well-known outside your social circles, Princess."
"...!?"
"And if you're going to refer to mine, you better have something better to back your ass up...Geoffrey Saint John of the Secret Service ring a bell...?"
"Why you--!"
"Tell me, do you enjoy doing it in the dirt, Princess?"
"*splutters*"
"Did it scare you half to death after that moment when you realised during your mating act that you might actually give birth to a skunk whilst loving on th' Hedgehog? I can't say you don't reek of Skunk Musk at this very minute..."
I figure at that point Sally would either slug her or lunge for her over the table XD I like showing Sally as an emotional wreck, easily taunted and just as quickly composes herself afterwards as if displaying her emotions on her sleeve is completely and totally wrong. I do not like this angsty, PMSing skank who ended it with Sonic and then took 45 fucking issues to admit she was jealous of Bunnie and Ant getting hitched >_>; That shit, I don't appreciate. I like Sally as a fighter, not afraid to drop-kick someone slagging her kissing friends thing with Geoffrey. I prefer VJ to lose a fang getting a one-up in during a fight with the Royal Brat X3

But with that said, if this is the first return of the King, the robotic version, I think the Downundans (well not Walt and his team obviously since they and Ant and Bunnie were involved for a time) but the rest of the continent probably would have known about it - and chose to steer very well clear of the whole affair. They had their own problems with the first of the nanite tech, having a Robotic King on the throne was no different than the real deal probably in their opinions. I can't help but think Magellan and Vee-Jay were aware this robot was being built on Downundan soil, and because of the beginning threat of these newer, upgraded nanites - which I honestly and still think the robotic Maximillian was built with - both chose to keep their silence, at least until they identified what exactly they were up against. The robot Max would have been their gateway into a whole different ballgame where the tech started becoming aware of itself and its surroundings. This would probably be what Blubberbelly was using the robot King as the testing ground for - technology that could sustain itself with him absent. And for the most part, it worked better than he'd ever hoped it would...

After the whole ENDGAME affair, I would figure that the recovering Maximillian would send out envoys, but deliberately miss sending one out to Downunda - an oversight it was believed - but had alterior motive behind it. In Max's mind, it was out of a grim respect for whatever hatred still boiled for the Monarchy on the continent, as it had become clear from Sally's reports that only Walt Wallabee and his team answered the call to fight for freedom from Robotnik's tyranny.

In the universe I wrote for VJ & Co, Downunda would have been the place Robotnik "disappeared" to, during that final battle with Sonic at ground zero, possibly to fake his own death and regroup his forces, and at that particular point, to strengthen and produce more of the nanite technology. And the rest of Downunda being the way it was, and still is, didn't even send word that Robotnik was back - the rest of the world didn't help them, why on Mobius would they send word the bastard was still alive? I think Base would probably come face to face with the realisation that Robotnik is still alive and well in Downunda, but, as Vee-Jay has already done and despite his conscience, would he send word that he's still around or let them find out for themselves? It wouldn't be an easy question to answer, and probably would lead to a lot of friction very early on in their adopted siblingship. But I do however think Robotnik would solve the issue for them, returning to "Mobotropolis" to wreak havoc once more...but left Downunda several "parting gifts" for them to deal with for the next decade or so.

Man, we should take this to Devnotes, this is getting insanely long in the tooth, innit?
*laughs*

Yes, I think we should take this to devnotes before we give the whole storyline away before its drawn and written. XD

But its good to know you're in the same boat on me on the Robotnik vs. Eggman debate, makes this helluva lot easier. Hell, how many fanfics are written that either show how truly evil his character was, or on the abstract, show how cunning he was? There was a whole story someone wrote where he was under custody and being interviewed, apparently beforehand the fat fuck had actually offed Snively himself. Great fic when I read it, I should see if I can find it again.

But yeah, I'll take my whole response to devnote. XD
