Description
Some kleinian work made with the latest version of Mandelbulber 2 v2.10. Mandelbulber v2. - 2.10Mandelbulber v2 2.10Free download (executables for win32 and win64): http://sourceforge.net/projects/mandelbulber/
https://github.com/buddhi1980/mandelbulber2
Together with zebastian, mclarekin, bermarte and mancoast we have finished new version of Mandelbulber.
Development of this release was focused on implementation of "Anim by Sound" functionality. There is possible to animate fractal parameters and effects using sound wave together with keyframe control.
Another interesting feature is direct export 3D mesh to *.ply file which can be imported in Blender.
Additionally there was a lot of actions to improve program stability and to implement many small improvements.
What is new?
v2.10
- AnimBySound: Added option to animate any parameter using sound wave (added "Anim By Sou compiled on Antergos.
Thanks to KrzysztofMarczak for putting it into the Arch Linux repos!
Finally getting a clue on handling MBer, but just a tiny bit. Used Pseudo Kleinian fractal included into the program. Little postwork with Gimp.

I like the atmosphere here. This form is a great representation of interconnected-ness.
Thanks for the hint on MB-er. I haven't updated mine in a while. It is time to revisit!

I can't come to grips with that program, even the newest version wants to kill my computer all he time ... Might be windoze that is the culprit....

Oh had an older 2.08 on Win and worked fine some time ago. sorry to hear that. Maybe similar to my pc, it doesn't like Fragmentarium
It is just a quick look anyway, hope more will come in the future Thanks a lot Sabine!

Just brilliant as always, jorge!
Some questions down below that I'll try and answer here:
As for Mandelbulber, the latest version 2.10 has a bunch of new formulas that are awesome, but it is not GPU enabled. A previous version--the latest and best being version 1.21--does OpenCL GPU rendering, which is the software I use primarily. I do animation videos, and used to use a massive home-made render farm to do them, but then started getting custom ported formulas from mclarekin and have been doing GPU-rendered videos for almost a couple of years now with v 1.21.
Version 2.11 will have some improvements and fixes to the current new awesomeness, v 2.10, that will now allow you to use audio files to sync parameters. When a kick drums hits, the power changes on the fractal, or the ambient occlusion or color shading or reflectivity or...any parameter can be triggered by an audio signal. So I'll be going back to 2.10 for that feature and just be in learning mode. And rocking some (hopefully) amazing sound-synced fractal videos.
Now....after 2.11, version 2.12 is planned to bring back GPU ability, and then I'll really be a happy camper: the new version 2 formulas and features, combined with OpenCl and the ability to render animations in a fraction of the time on graphics cards versus CPUs.
Thanks for the interest and the questions; happy to answer anything. Good work, jorge!

Thanks for the wonderful answer Steve Very good news indedd that GPU power will come back. As I read a bit this rhings are extremely difficult to implement due to the differences of calculations, architecture etc. so double hurra.
Hope we Linux users can benefit from it also, but not sure, due to the driver implementation.
You will be unstoppable for sure with new version

Last night I have downloaded the latest version of Mandelbulber. Not compiled coz I don't know if there can be problems with the dependencies (Kubuntu 14.04 LTS). So I've tested the windows standalone version (with wine). Wow! The version from the official packet sources is 1.15. So this stuff is good news.

Oh cool. Lol, they never changed this ancient version
Think by using KDE you are already in a QT enviroment, so it could be easier for dependencies.
The .tar.gz file have a install script and the README file contains instructions.

Ok thanks!!!
I have a windows version and it has gpu acceleration..
It is version 1.21 and it has an OpenCL tab..
I was curious about linux though..

Having an AMD wich have become End of lIfe (EOL) I have to use open source driver. Really a shame from both companies all this graphic driver mess
At least this compilation worked fine yaourt mandelbulber2-git and that's all. It solves all dependencies and compiles in around ten minutes for me. Didn't found any issues yet

Proprietary drivers is a pain..
I had tried Linux ( Debian I think ) and i remember step by step guides on how to install Nvidia proprietary driver..
The result? After installing unbootable machine..
Its a mess indeed..

Lol, you're not a Linux user if you haven't gone through this
Spend a time in Fedora and remember how nightmare it was to reinstall propietary driver with every new kernel

Very nice. I should try out the new Mandelbulber one of these days. I had some fun with the old one before I got into Mandelbulb3d, but there were very few formulas in those days.

Read the changes list. Now there are a lot of formulas available
Remember the old GTK version. The V2 is more flexible, imho

I love that program and am downloading the new version now. I am sure, though, that I will never manage to make anything like this! If you want to keep busy for the rest of your life, you could try soldering together a physical version of that scene from coat-hanger wire...
