Somewhere in France, at the very beginning of the Oligocene. Eusmilus, which was functionally a "cat", although phylogenetically closer to primitive civets, amuses himself by chasing the Pseudorhinolophus leaf-nosed bats that have flown out to forage.
Civets sometimes eat bats. Cats usually don't eat, but sometimes they catch it out of mischief.
