Description The beginning of Ignis's story of how she came to be where she was at.

Two screams pierced the chilly morning air. One was disgust from the mare who had recently gave birth. The other was the first breath of a foal.

The foal, a gorgeous silver grulla spotted blanket, tried standing on her wobbly legs. She whinnied a cry for help to stand as her legs were still not yet awake from being in the womb. Her mother took a few steps back, getting out of reach of the frail filly. The filly finally gaining her balance took a hesitant step towards her mother. She was hungry, but wanted to greet her mother more than anything.

The mare backed up even more, her daughter moving forward even more. "S -- Stay back you spawn of Satan! Y -- You can't be my child! I'd never birth something so small nor a fire Cosantóir, the worst Cosantóir of them all!" the mare roared backing away even more from the filly. She caught a quick glance of gold. Most likely the filly's guardian. "Don't go near that monster, she's evil!" the mare told the gold thing.

The words finally set in for the filly. Her eyes sparkled with tears. Her mother didn't even like her. She was disowned and she had been barely alive for a little less than five minutes. Her horn glowed a bright red, not the color of her mother's. Her mother's glow was that of gold, that of a manipulation Cosantóir's. Her horn's red glow was a fire Cosantóir's. They were labeled as evil and dangerous. Spawns of Satan. It was a curse to birth such a monster, but the filly didn't need to know that to know her mother despised her so much that she was alone now. Alone and hungry.

A golden thing landed in a tree nearby. It gazed at the filly with interest. He looked at the mare, the one who the filly had gave up on calling mom. "I thought you said it was to be a manipulation Cosantóir?"The thing asked its voice squeaky. It began to take shape of a young dragon. It had spikes along its tail and a little horn starting to grow on his nose.

The mare shook her head violently. "I may have gave birth to that thing, but she's certainly not mine. You should send another guardian to be her's. You deserve something better than a failure," the mare scoffed bitterly. Her first foal and it was a failure. How it sucked to explain this to such a young guardian. So full of hope and promise. Never mind that. "You can come with me and we'll fix this little issue."

The dragon looked stuck. He looked at the filly. Technically she was his duty, but was it all an issue? He was so new at this  and everything was so confusing! He bit his bottom lip and nodded slowly following after the mare. He didn't count her as the mother of the beautiful filly. She didn't care or love the foal, even though it was the mare's own blood. He thought that was despicable.

The filly listened to the whole conversation. She understood that she had gotten some 'Guardian' but was going to have him taken away and replaced. She felt attached to him already though and him leaving made her heart break even more. Everything was being taken away from her. Her blood lines. Her mother. Her Guardian. It now even seemed her life. She let out a hopeless sounding cry. She stomped her hoof the first tear starting to make its way down her face.

The dragon turned around. He couldn't do this. It was wrong. Besides he was assigned to her. He turned around and flew to the filly's side. "Hey. I -- I just couldn't leave you here alone. No matter what. You're too pretty. The name's, well actually you get to say what my name is." He looked at the filly, a slight smile shown on his face. "Come on, your brother needs a name."

"Fire," she croaked. "Your name's Fire." She twirled her fragile tail It was weird. One second she thought she lost everything, the next she had gained her guardian. Or what he said, 'brother'.

"Fire," he said rolling the name off his tongue. "I like it!" He leaned into the filly. "Follow me my dear and we'll go far."

"As far as I can go without a name," she snuffled, trying to sound happy but her tears still flowed freely. It was still hard to believe she didn't have a mother. At least she had Fire. He'd be the closest thing she'd ever have for family.

"True," he laughed. "Come on, let's get out of here and find a place we can call home."
