Quick bio because omg I hate writing these, i rather draw out the character's background instead.

She's 24 in timeskip storyline
Hero name is Rift
Quirk: able to create non perpendicular (tf did i say that right?) portals in the same dimension.
At a younger age she was able to create portals that could go out of 200 mile radius (sometimes more, her limits varied and was uncontrollable) , but with her illness and the steroids and numerous "medication" she's taken during her preteen-teen years she cna only go no 50 -75 mile radius at a time. Of course the bigger the distance, the more energy she uses. Her portals can only stay up for 10 minutes max. Time limit shortens depending on how often she has used it that day.
Maliyah was attending UA until her illness got the better of her and she had to move back to America with her parents. (At the time her parents thought she was going to die and wanted her to be around her mom's side of the family more) Maliyah was able to return back to Japan years later and re-enroll into UA under certain discretion. At the age of 20 moved back home to America for more treatments and became a side kick for few agencies until she was promoted to Pro hero at the age of 24. She transferred back to Japan and was hired to work at Deku's agency. (unbeknownst to him because she didn't fill out her paperwork correctly) And thus they meet again.
