Description
I decided to try drawing Xanatos from the Jedi Apprentice books again--with dialog that had memorized from The Day of Reckoning. I was surprised I still remembered it.To Kris. With much love. ^__^

Oh my gracious, I've been hunting everywhere for that book with Xanatos in it!
I have a friend who was totally in love with him, and I used to play his character in an RPG of ours--but I never really knew enough about him. Since then I've been hunting for the book. Can't find it.
Anyway, amazing picture! Not quite how I imagined him from my friend's description, but I love your interpretation. Makes me want to read the book even more!

He was such a fun character to read about. Ah, how I loved Star Wars: The Phantom Menace and all that was young Obi-Wan Kenobi... *girlish grin* Wow. Those were the days... xD (nothing to do with nothing about having the screen-name Obi-Sessive...*coughcough*) *ahem* 'scuse me.
I found the books on Amazon.com

Books 1-8 are all good. They tend to go progressively downhill from there. Due to lack of awesome villains named Xanatos in the plot-line... *sigh* Oh well. All good things come to an end, I guess? Oh. Except for heaven, which is eternity spent in perfect relationship with God the Father, and Jesus Christ his son. That'll pretty much last forever. (WOOooo!) ^__^

Gotta love Obi-Wan!! Man, now I really need to go back and read those. Thanks so much for the link!!
And totally in agreement. Eternity with our savior's gonna be pretty amazing.
BTW, I looked at the link on your signature--the one of Vic (I knew I always liked him!) preaching at a con? Wow. Amazing. I love to see people like that who walk out their faith no matter what, don't you?

Yeah, that was what I thought.
Two years ago I moved out to California to pursue animation... stuff... eventually... eh heh heh heh........ (kind of a God's calling thing...)
and when I first moved out I was like, "I don't know if I want to go all the way back to Chicago just for Anime Central... seems like a lot of extra money just to not miss out on my 8th (yes, 8th) consecutive ACen..." And then my friend Sara (who also had attended ACen for 7 consecutive years) was like, "the guy who plays Ed Elric is gonna be there." I was like, "oh really? sounds cool." And my other friend, Branden was like, "Vic Mignogna? Oh. He's a Christian." I was like, "HUH WHAT?? No. I'm totally going now. God himself would have to stop me."
So I went, and it was the best con ever. Mostly because when I went to Vic's Saturday evening panel, I was sitting on the edge of my seat waiting to ask a question about how being a Christian influences his work as a voice actor. I didn't even have to ask. He brought it up all on his own. He was answering questions, then, seemingly out of nowhere, he mentions that he has a whole stack of free CDs onto which he had recorded the entire Gospel of John from the Message translation of the Bible, and he was giving them to anyone who wanted one. (with piano music over top of everything!)
I just sat there. Tears were streaming down my face as, yet again, God himself surprised me by showing up in a place that I never would have expected to find him. (the last place had been at WWE wrestling event, believe it or not!) It was truly a gift from God. Afterward, I just needed to take a little time to be by myself just to process the sort-of "WOAH." feelings that were going on. It was crazy amazing.
P.S. you can download his Gospel of John recording at risemboolrangers.com. It's under the quick links menu. ^__^

Oh, I LOVE The Message translation. My copy of it is all highlited, and full of notes and dog ears...it's totally falling apart. Haha!
What a story...and don't you love that? I love how God shows up and meets us where we are, it doesn't matter how obtuse the situation. He works through any situation. Well--that's why he's God! Haha.
But that's truly a testament. Thank you so much for sharing this story with me! It was really an encouragement. I pray that you continue to follow God's will for your life; it sure seems like he's got some pretty awesome plans for you!!

I really like the look you got on his face - he looks like he's cornered but also refusing to show it, smirking at Qui-Gon. Keep it up. <3

Thanks. Yeah, that was pretty much the look I was going for. I love the description the book gives: "With a cruel smile that stretched his lips over his teeth like an animal, ..." It's that curl of the lips. XD
Wow. Now I'm even more grateful for your fav--I just cruised through your gallery, and I saw one of your drawings that I had faved back in late October of 2006. It's kinda cool to bump into the same deviant artists on several occasions. Like, I'll see a thum on someone's favs, fav it myself, and realize after the fact that it was an artist whose work I've already seen--just newer work. It's really cool.
