Anonymous or Anon was originally an icon used to represent a user without an account on 4-chan (don't go there unless you know what you're getting into). It was a green faceless guy in a tuxedo. Since then, Anonymous has become the tag of an organization of individuals who believe in freedom of internet with absolutely no regulation. Anonymous uses extreme methods to promote its views, such as hacking and taking down websites; but, not much can be concluded considering that anyone doing any of this can claim to be anonymous.
