Description It's been a while but I managed to crack this one out a within these few days and I'm taking a Roman Republic class so I just felt like Rome, like love in February, was in the air. I plan to crank out my weird America as Rome thing eventually as soon as I get the story straight(it's essentially supposed to act as a world backstory for a tokusatu-esque drama I've been writing, though will never publish fully)

Pretty simply it's a Roman Empire conquers the world map. The point of divergence is when Trajan campaign to conquer Persia goes much better and he manages to conquer the Parthians and Rome is able to hold on to that territory much more strongly than they were in OTL. The Era of the Good Emperors never truly ends as while Marcus Aurelius is still Emperor, Commudus is killed when he's young in a botched assassination from a Persian. Germania is conquered and Christianity becomes the State Religion in an alternate Civil War in the 4th Century. It might be better to say the Principate period of the Roman Empire never ends and it becomes akin to something like China where even when broken, it still manages to come back together. The Romans also never begin their stagnation so technological development moves on with traders and seafarers discovering America in the 11th century. The Greeks colonize much of what we know as the eastern coast United States, while Rome takes many of the territories the Spanish Empire nabbed in our century. The Roman Church is a mixture of Roman Catholicism and Greek Orthodoxy, taking the formers dress and style while the latter's relationship with the government. Other forms of Christianity exist, most of which operate freely like the Copts in Egypt. The one Christian group who has gotten on the nerves of the Romans traditionally were the Agnosians(otl mirror copy of the Nestorians) who came to dominate lands in Persia, Central Asia and much of China even after Rome conquered them. Despite that, as the Roman Empire expands, so does it's culture, it's ideology and religion expand as well. The Romans managed to stop the Mongolian invasion(as they still pop up) and slowly absorb the lands they conquered. Later on the Chinese and the Romans become rivals for the domination of Earth but the Chinese end up losing leading Rome's global Imperium. Today they are further expanding into space, and are in the process of terraforming Mars and Venus. Visually speaking they are a cross between the Imperium of Man and Star Trek's Terran Empire, though they are more moderate in comparison to the former two's ideologies(they don't kill their commanding officers for rank on a daily basis).  It's overall very simple and incredibly ASB(it completely breaks my historical philosophy so it has that going for it).

I do like it. Any chance of making a version with the Eastern Roman greeks dominating.  You could go with a Pod of Basil II has a successful line of heirs which then transitions into the Komnenos dynasty reigning.

Good to have you back, so what does Rome's space colonization effort look like? figured they haven't made contact with extraterrestrials but have they expanded out beyond the Oort Cloud yet or are the Romans more concerned with developing the planets and moons of the Solar System before launching any serious expedition to say Alpha Centauri. Also what is the comparable standard of living for your average Roman Citizen?

Pretty much the latter, the Romans are trying to populate the various bodies within our solar system before going super beyond. The thing is while they had a technological head start, once they conquered our planet in the 19th century and early 20th century, they mostly took to establishing rulership and trying to maintain their hegemony. This greatly slowed down their abilities to go to other planets before the 21st century. Essentially bloating themselves and trying to prevent their Empire from collapsing from within, think of the Crisis of the Third Century in our timeline.

Although Citizenship never became a right by law, with the decreasing numbers of slaves world wide, and Freemen becoming citizens, citizens make up nearly 75% of the state, while agricultural peasants usually make up the last 25%. Robotics have been slowly replacing the need for the agricultural workers, and the Industrial Revolutions changed the economic makeup of the Empire. Peasants are really just less well off farmers who operate the land free of most lords, but have been denied citizenship for varying degrees. Actual Citizens live fairly well off in comparison generally living within similar economic standards modern Americans and European do, however the state is highly intrusive so it constantly makes sure it's citizen population continues to breed and produce soldiers and workers for the good of the Empire.

Cool!
What's the Tech like? What does Rome (The City) look like now!
And how has Roman society changed over the millenia (Do they still have slaves and gladiators)?

Thanks, the tech as mentioned is roughly typical sci-fi levels with star ships and laser guns but still needing to expand for resources and continuous growth. Rome is a megaopolis, not too dissimilar to something found in your typical cyberpunk setting but much more clean, if that makes sense. When Roman society became more religious, it caused them to confront certain things about themselves, the Church despite being chosen by the Roman Emperor became more and more anti-slavery, especially against societies and cultures they conquered who were Christian. Overtime slavery dissipated until it was never used en mass like in the past(and it was never as brutal as chatel slavery). Rome would fully end slavery during their equivalent of the second agricultural revolution and early industrial revolution in 16th and 17th centuries. However who was considered Roman also began to change, as with Persia, only those considered to be of the Euro-Mediterranean race could fully become Roman, which was popular for a long time. These days it's much more inclusive toward their subjects in the Americas, as alot are mixed these days, Africans however are still considered more lower class, however because citizenship is very limited still only a small group of a lot of the non-European-Med peoples have settled in Roman Europe proper, so you're unlikely to find social stability to be crashing anytime soon.

Yes, but instead of slaves it's made up of prisoners who fight to lower their sentences(a hidden rule)
