Description
A patchwork appearance, but given how many Vipers weredestroyed from the Galactica's inventory, NEW ones had to
come from somwhere other than the home planets.
Novels suggested the Galactica had its own shipyard
somewhere inside where new small craft were produced.
If so, resources were not infinite.
Of course, banged-up ships need repair and new alloys
don't match old ones. And with sudden attack always
a concern, there's little time to make them attractive.
Before the decals to on and the other finishing touches, here
is the underlying skin of the fighter.
This kit, though issued recently by Revell, is essentially
the Monogram kit from 1978 sans the cheesey missile
launcher. Even later kits provided cockpits, pilots and
landing gear. I didn't mind the simple version, and I
almost tossed this particular model after a customization
attempt went very wrong.

I used to have this model Viper years ago. Don't know what became of it.

I tried to customize open landing gear wells and open up the cockpit windows. Neither attempt worked. I sent the cockpit canopy to an expert to clean up and paint. As for the underside, I smoothed it down and covered the scratches.
