This is a detail of a larger piece - there will be a full background too! But I'll just post this here now, as the background isn't finished yet...

Most of what I know of your work is realism so, I applaud you for stepping outside of your comfort zone and think you will only get better as you continue. The Deer head looks great!
It might be the lighting being shadowed for the head, or that we're dealing with a animal that doesn't exist, but, the wings look a bit small for the body, I think they're slightly folded, but with the lighting being brighter on the body and shadow for the head, the shading/shadow doesn't reflect the folds in the wings, particularly on the left side.
It has it's strong points, but some shading to emphasize the shadows would kick it up a notch.

This picture is very original idea (a deer with wings). I like the detail of the head, can be improve a bit but still looks nice. There are somethings that can be improve.
The first thing that can be improve are the wings, they don't look correct. They are in the wrong perspective and that the feathers aren't as defined as how close the picture shows of the winged deer. Sort of blends into the hunch of the deer. Second, the main body looks like it doesn't go with the neck and head of the deer. The head and neck is darker fur color then the whole body. Lastly, the plants to the right aren't really defined as they are closer or as close to the viewers perspective.
In general, it's a good picture. Just needs to improve with perspective and some details. I hope you have a wonderful day BeckyKidus.

No way... don't think you picked up on the fact that my most ancient national symbol is the "Wonder Stag" or "Golden Stag" did you? Surely a coincidence...

fun to see a deer from the butt perspective once in a while. your backgrounds are really improving I think. to agree with an earlier commentor, you should put more contrast on the wings to put them further into the picture, making them look less added on. other than that a pretty great piece. especially with all that detail with lighting and textures.

This looks awesome! Love the pose and the face of the deer!
Just going to try to make a small critique. The wings feel a bit bland compared to everything else so far and stick out with being so bright. (Unless you're not finished with them yet.)
Since it looks like the deer is going to be in a background where there is sunlight filtering through the trees, I feel like a cool effect could be coloring the wings a bit darker as if they are in shadow, except where the sunlight directly hits them.
At least having the wing on the left side be mostly in shadow except where it's peeking out from the deer's back and having the light hit it, since the light source seems to be coming from the right side and a lot of the left wing would be hidden behind the deer.
Just putting some thoughts out there. But it looks great so far, and even if you don't want to change anything with the deer, it's still going to be a magnificent piece! Good luck finishing it up! <3
