Description

The crab-eating fox (Cerducyon thous) - also known as wood fox, forest fox, or bushdog - is, despite the name, not a fox and not closely related to true foxes. Instead it is related to and resembles the South American foxes (which aren't true foxes either), and lives in all kinds of habitats apart from rainforests, high mountains, or open grassy savannas. During the wet season they actively hunt for crabs, which has given them their name, but they also eat everything from carrion to insects and eggs to fruit.

The crab-eating fox is common in large parts of South America, and despite some illegal hunting the population is stable. It is therefore listed as Least Concern.

...And back to the species, and the canines especially! There are a lot of seldom seen South American canids, and you'll likely see more of them eventually, but for now I went with the crab-eating fox - for no other reason than that I liked the photo.

Also, grey paper again Grass is so much easier when you can draw with white over dark!
