*WARNING!!! HARRY POTTER 7 SPOILERS AHEAD!!!**I've just thought of a new idea. In Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, there's this huuuuuge ninteen-year gap in the book, so I think that I'll start a HP Fan-Fic that tells what all happens during those years. So, off the top of my head, here goes the first chapter of "After the End!"*
*I do not own any of the HP characters!*
~*~*~*Chapter 1~*~*~*
Nearly two weeks had passed since Voldemort's death and downfall. Many of the Death Eaters were either dead or captured, few were still wandering free. If any were, they were now leaderless and had nothing left to live for.
Funerals had been arranged for the deceased. Fred Weasley, Remus and Nymphandora Lupin, Alastor Moody, Severus Snape, and many others had already been buried and laid to rest. It had been a miserable, dark day when their bodies were lowered into the graves forever. Harry Potter stood beside his friends Ron Weasley, Hermione Granger, Ginny Weasley, Neville Longbottom, Luna Lovegood, and several other witches and wizards as the ceremonies took place. When it ended, and the last mound of earth had been smoothed and flattened and a headstone was placed, Harry walked swiftly away from the scene. Angry tears burned his brilliant green eyes behind his round glasses as he walked. He came to an old willow tree and slammed his back against its trunk as the storm of emotions overcame him. He didn't even feel the rough bark against his own flesh as he sank slowly to the ground. He hugged his knees to him and buried his face in his arms. For how long he sat there, he didn't know. He only knew that some of his dearest friends were gone forever.
Harry sat there for a long while. Evening was begining to fall, and most of the guests had returned home. The sky was a bloody red and orange, the sun was a sinking ball of yellow flame. He didn't even notice Ginny standing in front of him, staring at him with a hard, blazing look. She was silent for a little while, but then she took a deep, shuddering breath.
"Harry?" she said quietly. "Mum says that you'll be coming home with us. Hermione's coming, too, and we'll be porting soon." She waited for some response. When she didn't get one, she sat down close beside Harry. She was still for a moment, but then her hand reached over and held Harry's. His hand was limp, but it slowly gripped Ginny's with increasing firmness. She didn't need to say what had already been said before. It would be okay in time, and everyone was sorry for the losses.
Harry and Ginny sat together for some time. Just before the sun sank from view, Harry sat up. He looked at Ginny with wet eyes, then leaned over and leaned against her as the tears fell at last. Ginny wrapped her arms around him swiftly and rocked him as he sobbed. She seemed to read his mind.
"It's okay to cry, Harry," she said as she stroked his hair. "You of all people have the right to cry. You've earned that right more than enough times."
"I'm sorry, Ginny," Harry choked.
"It wasn't your fault," Ginny whispered fiercely. "It's not your fault that Fred's gone. It's not your fault that anyone's gone." She lifted his face and held it in her hands. "Don't you EVER think that anyone's death here is your fault. You were so brave, Harry, and the people who died only died because they were fighting for our freedom. No one died in vain. You sacrificed yourself to save US, Harry. But not one of us did that for you."
"I couldn't have asked any of you to do that," Harry cried.
"Harry, it's all over," Ginny soothed. "It's all right. We're free, Harry, because you made everything possible."
Night fell quickly, and Harry finally stood to his feet. Hand in hand, he and Ginny walked back to the Weasley's and Hermione. They were ready to go back to the Burrow. Without a word, everyone touched an old bottle held by Mr. Weasley, and soon they all felt a jerk from behind their navels as they were hurddled forward. Several blurred seconds later, they all felt the earth thud beneath their feet as they stopped.
"We're home," Mrs. Weasley said briskly. "Now, we'll all have a few mugs of hot chocolate before we turn in tonight. Harry, Arthur and I want to speak to you about something real quickly." She ushered Harry away from the others and stood with her hands resting on his shoulders. "Now Harry, dear, Arthur and I want to tell you something."
"You're welcome in this house always, and if you want to, you can stay here until you can manage to get a house of your own and such things," Mr. Weasley said.
"We expected Ron would be staying for a while, too, and Hermione will be moving in with Ginny in her room in a few days." Mrs. Weasley said. "Please, Harry, dear, won't you stay for a little while?"
Harry smiled at Mr. and Mrs. Weasley.
"Of course, Mrs. Weasley, I'll stay," he said. They smiled at him, and Mrs. Weasley pulled him into a tight hug.
Suddenly, an upstairs window opened and George poked his head outside.
"Mum, I won't be home in the morning, I forgot to tell you," he called down. "I need to show Lee Jordan the ropes of managing Weasley's Wizard Wheezys tomorrow."
"You're still keeping the store?" Mrs. Weasley called up. Harry couldn't help but notice the quaver in her voice.
"Of course! I don't think Fred would've appreciated me getting all mopey and sulky about him. He'd kick me in the rear and tell me to get back to work!" George laughed. He went back inside and shut the window.
"Well, come on Harry, let's get inside," Mr. Weasley said. He led Harry into the Burrow and into the small kitchen and living room. Ron was beside Hermione with his arm around her shoulders. They looked up as Harry walked into the room.
"Well?" Ron asked with a grin. "Should I make space in my room, or do I get it all to myself?"
"I'm staying," Harry grinned. He looked over and caught Ginny's eye. She was smiling at him.
"Oh, Harry, that's wonderful," Hermione beamed. "Looks like we'll all be together for a while."
"I dunno, Hermione," Ron said as he sipped his hot chocolate. "I don't think that I can stand living with you for nearly a year or so." He recieved a pillow to his head that Hermione threw at him. "Hey!" he exclaimed with a laugh.
"Get used to it, because my parents are bringing my things in a day or two," she grinned wickedly.
Harry walked over and sat beside Ginny on an old couch. She immiediantly scooted closer to him and laid her head in the crook of his neck. Harry couldn't help but smile. As everyone began to talk at once, he leaned close to her ear and asked the question she had been waiting for.
"Do you want to... be with me again?" he whispered. Ginny looked into his eyes and smiled.
"Yes," she whispered. "More than anything." She tilted her head back and kissed Harry lightly on his lips, then snuggled back into the crook of his neck.
Ron was still holding Hermione, but he felt akward. She had kissed him, but now he didn't know what to say to her. She looked up at him and sighed exasperatingly.
"Ron, it's not that hard of a question to ask," Hermione said.
"Huh?" Ron asked.
"Oh, for Heaven's sake," Hermione giggled. "Ron, I kissed you. What does that tell you?"
"..... That you like me... more than a friend?" Ron asked hopefully.
"Bingo," Hermione smiled. She leaned against him, and Ron got the answer he had been looking for.
"Alright, you lot, it's getting late. Off to bed, all of you," Mrs. Weasley said. She shooed them up the stairs with a loving smile. The girls stopped at Ginny's door and went inside.
"What, no 'good-night Ron'?" Ron asked Hermione indignantly. Hermione wheeled around with a grin on her face. She walked forward swiftly and kissed him on the mouth.
"Good night, Ron," she said when she pulled away. "Good night, Harry," she called behind her shoulder.
"Your turn," Ginny said as she drew closer to Harry. She closed her eyes as their lips met. "Good night, Harry."
" 'Night, Ginny," Harry said quietly. She smiled at him and closed the door. Harry looked at Ron, who was grinning, embaressed.
"So... you and Ginny are--?" Ron said slowly.
"Yeah. And you and Hermione--?"
"Yeah," Ron said. They grinned shamefacedly at each other, then headed up the stairs to Ron's room.

Wonderful! Please don't abandon it like so many other writers tend to do. I can't tell you how frustrating it is to get interested in a story only to have it abandoned. Keep up the good work!
