Description
created a mechanical messenger too clumsy and scared to fly..it's been a couple of months since I last drew something, so I did this just to get me started - to see if I could still draw

I'm not crying. You're crying! *sniffles* It's this stupid onion you've put under my nose. *cries rivers* There is so much emotion in this one shot. my heart twinges at it, honest.Β

Everything about this works for me, from the layout, the concept and execution. This is simply an outstanding and beautiful piece.

Isso parece ideias de habitantes de outras DimensΓ΅es e de outros Planetas. Muito impressionante o realismo por completo.

Each time I look at this I just can't get away from the feeling that the man has built a mechanical replacement for one of a pair of birds that mate for life - as a gift/consolation to the remaining 'real' bird, so it doesn't fret for its lost mate. He's adding one last tweak before the mechanical messenger takes flight.

I love the Moebius-ness of your work. You deliver a lot of heart into your style.

The quality of your work is amazing. Awesome. I bow down. Is there any chance of you finding time to do a tut outlining your technique?

I've been going through your stuff, and it's all extraordinary, but this one.... I can't say why, but it took my breath away. Almost brought me to tears.... It's. So powerful.

That's a bit sad. I'd think flying would be something freeing.

Fantastic amount of realism here and in all your other works I've seen! I love the choice of colors, too. This scene intrigues me especially because of the clash of nature and machine. I keep asking myself what the living bird is feeling. Is he confused, feeling replaced, or is he oblivious to the fact that the machine isn't alive? Why does the young man feel the need to replace a surprising gift of Nature and evolution? I ask myself these things, not wanting others to answer. There's a deep story, filled with layers, in this image, just like all of your other creations, begemott. Thanks for sharing these! Inspiring!

Very moving. Despite the projection of incompleteness in the construction of the bird model -- dare I say a failure to achieve one's dream or task -- the fact that the live gull came to check the crafted bird lends a sense of hope, and also that it is the effort that counts.

This is gorgeous physically and emotionally. In fact, there is some excellent inner depth. The mood is reflected in the washed, grey tones. This is a gorgeous illustration.

I love it but I would love for you to start adding what medium each piece is done. I see you work in several different mediums and being an artist this is something that is interesting to me and I'm sure others. Thanks and keep drawing!

You can definitely still draw. ;^) Beautiful image. the mechanical & organic are both excellent. The only critique that comes to mind is that the 'real' gull looks more like a furry animal than a feathered animal.

I've been staring at this picture for several minutes now, but still I can't really say what I feel watching it. It's kind of sad, but not in an entirely bad way. It's more melancholy than pure sadness. I might be interpreting too much but for me the man looks almost desperate, not far from crying, nudging the mechanical bird to just try it, but deep down he knows it wont work. And the atmosphere created by the dark colours seems to tell you that there won't be another chance to try.

I find that really touching.. ahh.. I'm such a sucker for birds and robots.
I really like the balance of the lights/darks. The two little dark stripes on the top and bottom with the lighter section in the middle.. so awesome.
The only thing I might have changed is the inclusion of the other bird. If you removed it, it would probably create more tension for the mechanical bird's situation.. I think I might feel more scared for it.. But when you include the live bird you feel more grounded and the mechanical bird positions feels more like, how do I say it.. Like a child with the mother gently pushing it to its next stage of life? Where its filled with hope? So the bird makes you feel more like a mother looking down on it instead of the bird position where you would be feeling scared..
Or maybe.. if you included more birds the mechanical one would feel even more out of place and scared? Hmmm.. It might even be cool having some live birds sitting on the guyβs shoulder or something.. ah..
aha.. WELL.. thatβs just my thoughts on it! I donβt really know if they help or not, but I figured I should share them. (I know I always enjoy hearing what people think about when they look at my art) So anyway, Awesome picture!

thanks a lot!
I always appreciate it when people take the time to say their thoughts about something I did. I think I included the other bird to make a contrast.. and maybe show that the mechanical bird would not fly... dunno, I dont think much when I do these drawings
