Description I promised I would make a tutorial. I'm horrible at explaining things, so I think I ended up over compensating and explaining too much, if that makes since. God I'm so afraid this thing won't make any sense to anyone but me. Oh well, what's done is done. I hope this helps everyone who wants to know how I do my line art. Comment here if you have questions/comments/concerns

Full view to see the tutorial. It's a huge picture, so beware!

I saw that you get whispy lines in your brush drop down because you have a tablet plugged in. I use a wacom graphire 3 and I dont get those whispy lines. Is there anything I can do in photoshop to get them? my lines come out rounded even when I tell it to simulate pressure.... Any ideas?

Otherwise, this has been very helpful

I have the same problem. :/ The easiest thing to do is to is to make the sketch as lage as you can and then (with a new layer over the sketch) change the brush opacity to about 8% - 15% and make soft lines over the sketch. Do this continuously over the same line and it will eventually make a smooth line. If there are some ugly leftovers, just erase them. You can also make it even bigger, create ugly thick lines and when you zoom out you won't notice that their ugly.

I've just started using this technique and I've found that the ends of the linds are ridiculously thin. They just go into nothing, I go over the lines one size less at a time with the stroke like you say in the tutorial but it doesn't help the thin problem.
Any advice?

I was just wondering, after you finsih all the lineart. How do you get rid of the sketch's lines?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

begger4mcgregor In reply to dondeedun [2008-07-11 07:46:47 +0000 UTC]

If you made a seperate layer for the lineart on top of the sketch then you should be able to click the little eye icon next to the sketch layer and it will make it invisible. It's in step 11.
