I promised I would make a tutorial. I'm horrible at explaining things, so I think I ended up over compensating and explaining too much, if that makes since. God I'm so afraid this thing won't make any sense to anyone but me. Oh well, what's done is done. I hope this helps everyone who wants to know how I do my line art. Comment here if you have questions/comments/concerns

ok i just downliaded photoshop, me and my friend want to make a manga but outlineing every picture we draw is gonna take forever and miller seeams to think that i can just do dosething to maker the drawing black without takeing the time to outline it can i? or is he just being silly!

Amazing and easy tutorial for beginners to follow...I wish other people would make lessons like this but that's just wishful thinking^^
Anyways, I am following what you are doing but the lines come out too thick when I use the brush type 5x. I know I could lessen it but I wanted to know, if I don't like how the line came out, is there a way for me to erase the line later or would i have to completely remove the line I made and restart? Sorry if my question is confusing

I got photoshop cs2 today and I spent 6 hours just trying to learn how to do the line art. I looked at so many tutorials and they all didnt help me, but you'rs however was VERY easy to follow and i was able to make my first line~ xD!! I'm so happy and it's very simple once you get the hang of it! Thank you so much for making this tutorial it helped me a BUNCH!
However im a little confused about how you said its better if you make a new layer everytime a line intersects with another @w@ And new layers on the eyes as well...

When I right-clicked, it didn't allow me to select stroke path :C Any idea why?

this is really usefull. but i dont get one thing. Why make so many layers when you could just make one and do all the liniar work on that?

btw, i was using photoshop cs, and the whole stroke, thin, stroke thing can be saved as an action. that action can be assigned to a hot key, and the tedious process is reduced.

Holy crap. that seems like the BIGGEST pain in the ass i have ever heard of. I figured this is what line art meant, but OH MY GAWD. that would take me forever. good tutorial tho.

Did you make sure that you have "Brush" selected in the drop down window?
Maybe you do, but it never hurts to check.

Yeah, I did.
Actually, I got it worked out... No clue how. I had sensitivity on and everything. Even my tablet pen wasn't working right. But, I fiddled around for about an hour, and everything works now.

i think if anyone of u have problems with the tutorial or somthing dosnet seem to work .......try doing line art on a sketch with photoshop but at the same time have the tutorial open and follow it step by step

when i press THE BUTTON, then actual start the line art, i cant make that 3 pointy thing, all it does is make a straight line then i do another line, then it would curve off! TT.TT Nothing ever works for me......(srry, noob to photoshop)
