Description I promised I would make a tutorial. I'm horrible at explaining things, so I think I ended up over compensating and explaining too much, if that makes since. God I'm so afraid this thing won't make any sense to anyone but me. Oh well, what's done is done. I hope this helps everyone who wants to know how I do my line art. Comment here if you have questions/comments/concerns

Full view to see the tutorial. It's a huge picture, so beware!

Thanks, that was helpful. What size are ur images when you work on usually? Like do you make them really huge and then shrink them down alot?

I only have one problem. When making a circular shape, like the swoosh on a t-shirt or hair line, the tip becomes much to thin. Almost invisible. Is there a way to thicken that?

Thank you so much! I have been wanting to draw anime but I am a sketch person. I couldn't draw a straight line to save my life. I really should look before I ask but eh, if you don't have a mini-tutorial on how to make the eyes, could you make one?

Do you flatten your lineart before coloring it?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

begger4mcgregor In reply to Dk-Raven [2009-02-13 04:44:42 +0000 UTC]

Yes, but not to the background. I make the background layer invisible, so you can only see your lineart and a grey grid behind it, then select any lineart layer and go to the "Layer" pulldown menu at the top and select "Merge Visible". That's what I do anyway

I had a question about the section of the drop down box for selecting the brushes T^T
I looked all over for tutorials for that matter for 6.0
, i have a tablet and stuff, but i dont have the setting to have the type of brush you used T^T
all i have is the sloid brushes and the brushes that fade out only to the sides but it always makes s slid line when not even barely putting pressure on my tablet T^T is there away i can access the brush drop down box on 6.0?

Really that's interesting how you do lineart lol, I just trace it with the brush tool in Photoshop (well... I can't vouch for the quality, you'll have to be the judge of that), but that's an interesting way of doing it. I may try that out myself! I'll fav this, b/c I might find this useful!!

Thanks for the tut'! Got one problem using the pen though :\ After I have to point and I curved the line I want to make another straight line so I could edit it later but I cant do that because it gets automatically curved and not how I wanted it and I can't change it much. What do I do? Im doing my characters hair now and it's handful..

This has been really great! The only problem is (and this is totally not your fault at all) that my parents got me elements 7, which has a better interface...maybe just looking better.... *sweatdrop* but they also moved around some of the buttons, which ended up not being much of a problem anyways! So, thanks a lot!
