You will need:
a pair of black boots, these are the ones I got and they fit pretty true to size

gold acrylic paint
burgundy acrylic paint
Boot pattern

Self Adhesive contact paper for the stencil (you can find this at home depot) this will be sticky enough to work as a pattern but comes off easily and with no residue
spray adhesive (to attach pattern to contact paper)
X-Acto knife
permanent marker for tracing (a gold metallic one would probably show up best, but seeing as I didn’t have one I used a yellow marker)
If you order the same boots that I did you will have to start by detaching the braid along the sides. Just take your seam ripper and detach the stitches and then take a pair of sharp scissors and cut off the braid as close as you can, you can touch up any marks with a black permanent marker. I then make a stencil out of 2 sheets of contact paper. You start by cutting out 2 sheets of paper the size of your design. Then peel the backing off one sheet and lay it on top of your second sheet to create a stiffer stencil (you will want to do this from one end to the other so you don’t get any air bubbles). You will then want to use the spray adhesive on the back of your printed out paper design. Let it dry until tacky then lay it on your contact paper. You will then cut out the pattern with your X-Acto knife (making sure to save the inner pieces). Then peel the back off of your stencil and lay it on your boots (you might need to take some tiny snips out of your pattern to make it fit correctly). Now trace the pattern with a permanent marker. Then remove your pattern and paint over with gold acrylic paint. After your boot pattern has dried, then paint the heel and sole with the burgundy. Now you are ready to go and bring back summer!
