Description

Next Step Corset!

You will Need:

Simplicity 2757 which we will modify or you can draft your own pattern

1 yard Black Crepe fabric (this is just what I found in my remnants box, you can also use black suiting material, velvet or suede, but keep in mind that velvet is much harder to paint)

Assorted Acrylic paints

gold ribbon

Closure: you can use a zipper or put in grommets and lace up the back like I did (I used 22 brass grommets and some thin gold ribbon to lace it up)

pattern for the shirt “embroidery” (you can find this online)

We are again going to be modifying the pattern in order to make it more accurate. For this part we are just going to be using the corset portion of this pattern, so ignore the instructions for the skirt. Since I have a long waist I started by adding about 3 inches to the bottom of each pattern piece for the corset. I also widened the shoulder straps and angled then slightly outwards. In order to get the right shape for the neckline and waistline you need to try it on with your shirt and then take a piece of chalk and draw out the shape you like best! At this point you can also put in the grommets for lacing if you choose to. I then serged the edges and sewed on my gold ribbon. Then lay on your stencil of the design and paint away! Hopefully that wasn’t too confusing, when I make things I tend to wing it Please feel free to ask questions!

Thanks for explaining how you made Anna's corset! This is one of the most accurate corsets I've seen for her.
