There was a delighted swing in their steps as they made their way through the tunnels, though they still had to be careful. They were carrying precious cargo – a delicate glass mobile. Twine had helped them put it together with some string and sticks, and adding some little beads for added decoration. But the glass was special. It was theirs, something from their collection. Little fragments that they’d gathered over the years and specially picked out just for this.

A fractal picture of blues and purples danced on the walls, light reflecting in sharp and colourful contrast against the dark walls of the lava tubes. It was quite pretty, they thought…and hopefully she’d appreciate it too.

Fishhook paused, coming across a section where the tube that they’d been traveling through conjoined with another. They weren’t too sure…but it seemed like it was opening up more this way. There was more light, at least, and it seemed that there was an increasing number of candles and odd little decorations. Fishhook quite liked the way that the caverns were decorated, and even thought that they might have spied something that had been theirs at one point.

Not that it really bothered them. There were some things that they left out intentionally for her, little treasures that they thought that she’d like and maybe would bring back here, to her home. That was why they had such high hopes that she’d like this. It wasn’t something that they’d left out for her or something that she’d borrowed without permission, it was something that they were giving to her. A little step forward maybe, and a peaceful offering in their curious relationship.

There was the soft touch of an old – they assumed reclaimed – rug beneath their paws. It was nice, but it couldn’t long be admired before bright light from an opening in the roof of the tunnel blinded them. It did little to give Fishhook pause except to squint a bit, their head still held high as to not let the fragile mobile get too close to the ground. The mobile itself created a dazzling display in this bright light, but it was short-lived.

Beyond the shafts of bright light, there was a bend in the tunnel. And, was that - ? They weren’t sure. There weren’t many times that they actually saw her but for the few times when they were younger, but they always felt her…lurking. It made Fishhook smile all the more to consider that she was lurking here, even as they delivered her a little gift.

Fishhook continued on with their happy trot down the tunnels, the mobile proudly held. Fish was sure that she could see it, wherever she was.

Well...better late than never c; This was actually nice to work on after I had a bit of a funk where I didn't want to work on anything and wasn't happy with what I thought about working on X'D Felt like I was working on this one for ages but apparently just started this January? Time flies when you're arguing with backgrounds! Cap and I have been talking about bonding Fish and Kana for absolute ages and I've just gotten around to finishing the first part. Ah well :'D

Their relationship isn't romantic so much as it is the greatest frenemy rivalry ever. Kana's constantly taking Fish's things and growing up, Fish and Kana had a lot of "showing each other up" with who was bigger and who had the scariest teeth, whose fish was whose and what part of the territory belonged where lol. Fishhook was gone for a long time though - Kana was left alone on the island while Fishhook was off with the rest of the Sundance pack in foreign lands, and was quite different by the time they returned! But their relationship hadn't changed in the slightest. Kana's always been there, lurking like the delightful socially awkward kid creep that she is <3
