Been meaning to upload this for an age and a half and just now got around to it :'D

As some of you know, last summer I had the privilege and opportunity to work with an animal husbandry facility that offered displays of free-flighted birds including raptors, corvids, herons, vultures, etc., and one of my absolute favourite experiences of that entire job was to work with one of their very young African White Naped/Necked ravens. He's a sweetheart and I love him to death.

Unfortunately due to social media issues when it comes to posting captive critters [even captive born/bred ones], I probably won't ever be able to post pictures of the sweet boy...but I can offer this instead <:

He was going through a serious molt over the summer and, being a non-native species, I got to collect and keep several of his feathers [yes, those are absolutely all his in the pics, 41 feathers in the collection and more stashed in a box that I have]. Decided that I wanted to do something with all of the feathers that I collected, and since molting is more or less a symmetrical process, I had the idea to lay them out in a [mostly, some artistic liberties taken] anatomically correct position and make my own little raven uvu

The "head" of the raven is actually a rat skull that he coughed up in a cast/pellet after swallowing a rat head whole like the little mischief-maker that he is :'D

Re: "little"
- white naped ravens can have a wingspan of up to 3ft / 91cm
- approx. 20in / 51cm in length
- and weigh up to 2.5lbs

The display is housed in a jersey shadowbox of 30 x 36"; the feathers and skull are held in place by dollops of hot glue. Took...several hours to put together and about a 1/2 - 3/4 bottle of wine ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
