Very nice banner design. Very well suits a community banner/logo for any graphic art. Just like any other logos, it's quick, simple and to the point. The font used in here is brilliant, and easily readable. Many people might know how hard it is to find a font that is readable and gives off a bulky retro feel like this one. Also, the two main colors help give a sense of feel and clear distinction between the two words, mixing them up a little bit with the "O" crosshatch.
One of the main issues I have with this are the last few letters on the word "design". In my opinion, if I never saw the word "design" in the title, it would be kinda hard to read from afar.
My second issue is that the placement of the first word is nudged a bit to left. My suggestion would be to move both words to the right a little bit, and then adjust from there. That's just a personal preference.
Lastly, my recommendation would be to remove the overlay of the text on the background. Looking at it closely, it seems too etched-in. Put both of the words as normal, then see which one looks better.
Overall, a great piece of work. Looking at the great composition and idea of this logo makes me want to join this group actually. Very inspiring. e.deviantart.net/emoticons/s/s⦠" width="15" height="15" alt="

Looks good! Love the font/style of the words. Have you tried giving the 'U' in 'Community' a little triangular chip out of the top so it's not just the solid shape? Just an option.
I, personally, prefer the bottom version, because in the top, the 'N' in 'DESIGN' looks more like a backwards 'R' to me, whereas in the bottom one it is quite clearly an 'N'.
