Description
This is a collage/sculpture/assemblage called the OSTENSORIUM OF THE ORPHIC TYRANT. These occult themed works are always very difficult for me, they come from a corner of my psyche that I don't like to access very often. This one is an attempt to view, through a peephole, an interstitial reality. In this case the peephole suggests the Ostensorium (monstrance) of the catholic liturgy, the window through which the eucharist is viewed. How it is made: The collage in the center is made up of various 19th century anatomy and taxonomy engravings, printed on cardstock and hand coloured.
The rays of the sunburst are bamboo skewers covered with gold leaf.
The 3 capitals at the top, bottom left and right are sculpted in polymer clay and inlaid with 9 blue and 9 red synthetic crystals.
9 + 9= 6, 6, and 6.
Special thanks to Chubbypigeon.com for the photos.
I wish I had a way to take a three dimensional photo of it, as it is not a flat collage, but more like an orifice or tunnel.

I've never seen this art until now or anything like it, the creepy part is two to four years back I had my first mushroom trip on 7G's and afterwards I came up with a drawing and was to eventually be re-imagined on the computer, last year I finally finished it and it is now my album cover for my music.  www.youtube.com/watch?v=pxr6zkâŚ

Thanks for saying so, Tony. Y'know, I suppose you are the only member of DA who's actually seen this in person, all that was missing was the gold leaf and the capitals. I don't like how a lot of my stuff looks in photographs... my work kind of loses it's point when depicted in two dimensions. Becca has been making insect dioramas, those don't properly photograph either. We've gotta get a macro lens for our beat up cameras.

Thank you so much for saying so! It was really meant to be seen in person, I don't like the photographs. I am trying to work up the nerve to display it in a gallery.

I can understand why you do not like to travel to mental realm from which this was born. There are exceptions to the adage "Keep your friends close and your enemies closer".
It is an excellent an compelling piece.

this is a remarkable piece. Crowley would be proud.

Thank you. I wasn't consciously thinking of Crowley when I did this... much more Austin Spare influence... but since you said that, I immediately see the pyramid in the O.T.O pic.

Sure, we never really know how things will influence our creations, but for me, anything occult leads my brain to Mr. Crowley. I hope that didn't offend, many are really put off by him and his works, but I found them to be compelling. But your work is fantastic, just brilliant.

Thank you for saying so. And I'm not offended at all, Crowley was a very interesting figure who pops up in so many strange tangents of history.

Thank you for saying so. I'm either gonna sell it or put it in the center of my opium den, haven't decided yet.
