Description Well this is it! the last page in my old sketchbook! I ended up getting a half size one because I didn't have the money for a full sized one.

Five guesses as to where I've spent an inordinate amount of time this semester... This was more of a "fun" drawing than a "stress over every line" drawing. I needed something to relax myself before a math exam.

Ignore the poor anatomy on the figure to the left, she was drawn without reference, and the legs especially are off.

An interesting side note: This view ("Fish eyed lens") is actually how the world looks. Our brain does a very good job of telling us that lines are straight when optically they should not be. Thus wide angle shots are not so much "distortions" as shrinking things that are normally out of view down to a size that the curves become apparent. For example the image linked below is a huge wide angle image of President Obama's inauguration, the "distortions" disappear when you zoom in, and become apparent when you zoom out. [link]

What does this all have to do with anything? Well when it comes to art, the world's hidden curves need to be accounted for when working with perspective, or else your drawings will look "off". My image above is greatly exaggerated, of course, but it conveys what I wanted it to.

That's ironic. Today, I was doing random drawings with similar perspective experiments while taking notes in Chemistry

Yay for libraries. :>

Getting through a sketchbook is a good feeling. I've gone through one, and halfway through the next. Fun for me to look back and gasp at the horrors on the page.
