he raids the bird feeder in the summer, but there is 8ft of snow in the winter and nobody around to feed him for about 6 or 7 months.

they dont officially hibernate, since that means sleeping for months straight like a bear does. they spend most of their time in their holes through the winter and sleep maybe a day or 2 straight at times I think. they store food up all summer to eat through the winter.
