Nine VS Rivet [Sonic Prime VS Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart]
The multiverse is full of infinite possibilities, from timelines, universes, and entirely other dimensions. While some worlds are like ours, there are other worlds where we are hardened and have to fight to see the light of another day. Like with Nine, the Cyberpunk Lone Fox and counterpart to Tails, and Rivet, the Lombax Freedom Fighter and counterpart to Ratchet. There many versions of every one, but when "Paradox Rifts" threaten the multiverse, only one will survive.

Connections:
The connections between Nine and Rivet are that they are alternate dimension counterparts to iconic, heroic, platforming mechanics (Tails and Ratchet) with light blue eyes that grew up in cyberpunk cities ruled by their universes version of evil scientists that rules with an army of robots (New Yoke City, ruled by Mr. Dr. Eggman, and Nefarious City, ruled by Emperor Nefarious). They both have cybernetic appendages due to faithful incidences (Nine's bullying leading him to create cybernetic tails to fight back and Rivet losing one of her arms to one of Nefarious' robots), believed that the only one they can trust is themselves until meeting the partners to their main counterpart, who convinces them to trust others more (Sonic and Clank), getting involved in dimension shattering events to stop their from taking over all of reality.
- They contrast with their trust though. While both begin to slowly trust the protagonists over the course of their story, Rivet actually fully ends up trusting Ratchet, allowing them to work together and save reality, Nine is seen having an agenda that didn't line up with Sonic's, betraying him and putting the entire Shatterverse in jeopardy to create a new world in his image.

Why Do I Like This Matchup?:
Matchups where the characters start off in similar positions of origin and story but go into a different direction from each other will never not be interesting. It's matchups like Hulk VS Doomsday and Gojo VS Makima works really well, and seeing these two fight over the fate of the multiverse (especially with how Sonic Prime Season 3 is going). Plus, I know it's personal preference, but I think Nine fits Rivet better than Blaze because of their dynamic, one where Rivet tries to convince Nine what he's doing is wrong but Nine doesn't listen and puts them both at risk.

Any Preferred Alternate Matchups?:
Blaze the Cat is definitely my preferred alt. for Rivet, as many connections do work, though I think Nine just has a better dynamic with Rivet. Their settings matchup better, their arsenals can be utilised against one another than then a million weapons vs fire, a an interesting contrast that turns a hero vs hero (or hero vs anti-hero) fight into a hero vs villain fight. I've seen other options for Nine in Evil Morty and Mr. L, but neither of them stick with me at all.
