Description
Salaam Rave (pronounced sah-lom)thanks to for help with the pronunciation
My submission for the next round of : Do The Twist. The intent of this challenge was to combine two styles of fashion. My assignment was 80's and Arab fashion, two very difficult styles to combine, as 80's fashion was all about rave, workout gear, and spandex, arabic fashion being supple and breathable tunic/pant sets, and either the full coverage of everyday wear or the extravagant and revealing bellydance clothes. Pretty much opposite styles, but anyway.
So I did some research on the two and settled on the pants of the Shalwar Kameez, the Hajima shawl, and a cropped tunic, also from the Shalwar Kameez but indicative of the tie tops commonly worn in bellydance. Arabic clothing is often subtly patterned with large embroidered medallion motifs near the edges, so for the charcoal fabrics I chose a small repeating pattern that didn't detract from the high chroma and solidarity of the neon spandex.
The bra worn under the crop top and over the spandex shirt is relatively plain. Not much to say there.
The spandex is neon. One of the things I noticed about the 80's is that they have 3/4 length EVERYTHING. This length is acheived by scrunching up a full length shirt, pant, or legwarmer so that there are large column folds. I was out with a friend who was an avid dancer during the 80's and she showed me a few of the outfits she had kept. This is similar to one of them. They generally consisted of a crop top, with a mini skirt over leggings. I switched the leggings for leg warmers, the shirt, skirt, and leg warmers made of neon green spandex. One of the reasons I chose spandex for this outfit is not only that it was a popular material in the 80's but it almost takes on a fluorescent quality when dyed in neon and under blacklights, which would be frequent in a rave (common in the 80s)
The sneakers are dusky purple and orange tennis shoes.
Her hair is one of the chemical blonde mullet styles teased to the umpteenth, also seen commonly in the 80s. She has a spike bracelet, purple/pink plastic bracelet, orange slap bracelet, and multiple gelly bracelets to accent the piece. The Fishnets are dusky magenta.
I hope you all like this design. In terms of the background, i pride myself in finding a neon sign written in arabic. although I have no idea of what it says, Im still pretty psyched that I could throw that in there. Enjoy!

Well, the first thing I see is that you made her thighs too skinny. They should come closer to touching before they disappear into the skirt. It's true that there can be a sort of empty ledge between the two thighs (cough cough, moving on) but imo you've overdone that. And on the rear view same problem. The back of the rear leg should cover up a little of the front of the far leg.
Secondly, her legs seem a little long. It looks fine in terms of the overall style of the picture, but if you're concerned about correct anatomy, just be careful with that.
Finally, on the front view, her nose seems too tall. I'd erase some of the top of it, maybe three or four pixels worth, and move the nose up accordingly.
That's pretty much it. Everything is superbly detailed, and the shading is fantastic. Imo the orange on her shoes clashes with the greens above them, but every t-shirt I own is black so what do I know about fashion. And I have to say, I hope this outfit is on the shelves someday. I'd love to see my girlfriend in this. o.o

rofl
yeah im pretty attentive to anatomy....the distance between the thighs was intentional - the model herself is meant to show off the picture, and though I know this is incorrect, i wanted to emphasize the width and supple nature of the pants, and having the bells at the bases touching understated that, so i broke the rules a bit.
thanks for the crit!

Ooo nice C:
This is kinda helpful for me at the moment XD
I'm trying to develop a character who is stuck in a single set of clothes from the 80s - so your observations are nice to have C:
I like her name being Peace..

lolol. It comes with practice. Also, I found some pretty good references for the legwarmers, which translated pretty well to the arm stuff too. And I have similar pants, so I know how they go Mostly it just comes with practice. ^_^
Wouldnt it be nice to win another one. I think some of the contestants are getting tired tho. And the three reinstated competitors dropped the ball a bit.

Shalom is actually a Jewish interpretation of the word. Salaam is pronounced more "sah-lom" and means peace in Arabic, commonly used in the phrase Salaam Alaikum, or may peace be upon you.
