Description Walking quietly behind him, hands in his, she lowered her head.

She could smell the alcohol on his breath, the scent of weed on his clothes.
She knew what it meant when he got like this, all lovey dovey and sentimental.
He was going to leave again... just like he always does.

She felt his hands grip hers a little tighter, felt them hold on a little bit longer before dropping his hands to his side. As their hands disconnected and fell to their sides; she felt like her life line had just gone flat.

She felt his presence before him.
He was tall but not so tall that he was intimidating.
He was built but not to the point where it was the least built overwhelming.
He was hers but just for moments like this.
Moments where the world seemed to dissapear from around them and only they existed. Moments where she could take in the color of his skin that looked like creamy peanut butter or the lightness in his eyes that were a florescent dark brown or even the waves that flowed through his hair.
Moments when she could tell that this was the person she had fallen in love with.

Feeling him interlace his fingers with hers she looked up; breath taken away by his eyes.
"I'm leaving." He said in a hushed whisper as he leaned to rest his head on her shoulders.
"When are you coming back?" She asked while squeezing their hands a little tighter.
"You know I don't know that." He added with a small kiss to her neck.
She could feel the pain of tears sting the back of her eyes as he said this. She had known the answer; she had always known the answer.
He would leave randomly. Sometimes for days, or weeks or even months. But other times for years.
She felt him slowly wrap his arms around her waist and start to sway.
"Even though it seems I have everything," He whispered in her ear as he started to turn in a circle in the middle of the deserted road surrounded by occupied double wides. "I don't want to be a lonely fool." She breathed in deeply knowing that this may be the last time she ever got to smell him.
Weed mixed with alcohol and cinnimon...the only smell that soothed her.par
"All of the women," His voice was husky as he continued to sway and sing with her in his arms. "all the expensive cars,"
Pulling away from her slightly he lifted her head to look into her eyes brimming with tears. "all of the money don't amount to you."
Smiling she started to sing along as they leaned their foreheads against each other in the warm sunset breeze of a South Carolian March.
"I can make believe I have everything, but I can't pretend that I don't see," She stopped singing as they stopped moving and let him continue.
"That without you, girl, my life is incomplete." With the last words escaping his mouth he kissed her.
The way he hardly touched her lips but never lost contact made the kiss passionate but soft. The way his breath ghosted over her lips and made shivers run down her spine made the kiss meaningful but light.
"Promise me you'll still send me kisses at 11:11" He said smiling while walking her home from their escape.
"Always." She said hoping that it didn't have to end like this. Wishing that all the begging in the world would make him stay.
"I'll be back a little later. Promise me you'll be right here waiting." He said holding her hand firmly as if to say 'I want a reason to come back'.
"As long as you bring the ice cream." She smiled as she made the reference to the day they first met 9 years ago.
"Promise." He said with a look in his eye that made her want to burst out crying. He had just returned a week ago and now he was leaving again. It pained her to not know where he was going, or not having anyway to get intouch with him. Letting her hand slide from his one last time, he turned with a smile and walked down the street while the sky was tinted with hints of the soon to come sunset.

Well i clicked on a random link expecting nothing and found myself a damn good piece. The description in this is amazing, and while the imagery is somewhat lacking, you nail the sensory so hard on the head it busts through the floor. I'll stop buy tomorrow when i'm not going to bed and do a line by line if you wish. Not that I'm really good enough to give a critique but at least someone cares right?

Sorry about my lack of vocabulary.
I just started English 2 and this is really the first time that I'm starting to learn better words. Hopefully my next short story will flow better =]

you've got natural talent, nothing to do with being better - just honing. don't let school kill your ability, I'm in college and not all edumication is good edumication.

And don't worry about your diction, you're ahead of most as is. Putting words into a piece just to be wordy is kinda... glib. Sure it's fun to be a smart ass (ok, really Really fun) - but it's not so ok to whack people on the head with pretension. That's bad, mmmk?
