Under normal circumstances Gabrial hated tall people. He hated the way they could reach things he couldn't and the way their life was easier because of it.

Under normal circumstances Richard hated people who whined. He hated how their voice went into a sometimes slightly higher pitch and he hated it when people gave into what the whiners wanted.

But there are certain times when normal circumstances don't matter. Times like when Gabrial loved the fact that Richard was taller than him. It made it easier for Richard to show who was in charge, easier for Gabrial to submit.
Times like when Richard loved to hear Gabrial whining for him to go harder, deeper, faster. He loved the way Gabrials whines were accompanied by scratches, or arched backs.
Times like when they were alone.

Those weren't normal circumstances. Those times were extraordinary. Just the way they like them. But once outside of closed doors, things returned to the way they were. Where normal circumstances applied.
