Description Ever think we just live and die by the clock? We wake up to a dreadful ringing, throwing on our clothes before the big hand gets to the 4. Must get to work by the time the little hand gets to the 9, or you won't leave until the little hand goes past the 5. Then wait for everything to go by it's schedule, enabling you to plan out your day perfectly.....

Taken on a trip to London with an old family friend, in Canada Square, Canary Wharf. Shot at 90mm on T-Max 100 with Canon EOS 33

Bettered viewed full-size

UPDATE: Changed entire photo for one taken about five seconds where white colthing was less prominent and distracting. Submitted for print

Didn't have to read to description to figure out that this had something to do with time etc. Love how prominent the clocks are in the shot - really like how they are much higher than the people around them - adds to that whole 'live and die by the clock' quote

A wonderful mix of lines and shapes, and a great contrast to boot!

Thanks a lot mate. I peronally really liked this shot, but it didn't tend to go down too well with the community. However, I'll rely on your expertise, and my own judgement I prefer it that way

I have noticed that the lady has gone, but have you cropped this as the composition seems different?

Er no, the composition is exactly the same, the camera was not moved for this picture, and I didn't crop it digitally, it's the same scene, just five seconds later

Very well done. Capturing a feeling of technology's presence is not always as easy at it sounds (I should know), but I see that in this.

there's a Canada Square in London? niiiiiice!

i do love this - and yes, time seems to grip us around the neck more often than not (it was rather nice when i didn't wear a watch this summer). i love the texture of the steel that you've captured here. one small thing that i find slightly distracting is the fact that the two characters in the background have their feet cut off.. but that's not a big deal.

Well can't say I even noticed, but you need an outside eye to critique photos. I'm glad you liked this. I actually if anyone would like this, it'd be you

Very good composition and the way you have captured the poles of the clocks where the shading texture and lighting is wonderful. I like the flatness of the picture; it’s like an abstract collage. My only criticism would is that the lady at the bottom right is too bright and distracting, the left corner leaks into the frame. Over all this is a great shot, with such interesting shapes and shading. Nice one.

Thanks a lot John. I had noticed this woman, and am currently working on dumbing her down. Thanks very much for the very detailed criticisms of Afternoon Deliberation, hopefully, it will help me to improve greatly

this shot just speaks to me, it's pure class

i love the focus you have achieved, the focal point of the image can be seen as a different thing every time i look at it, the isometric style shapes on the building at the back, any number of the vertical pillars, the clocks. it's just brilliant

i'km also quite drawn to the shaddow of the hand rail on the stairs, it's quite intriguing
