Description
I think I've decided that I'm join to make Vinyl the subject of my first print run for my online store. This is just a layout of how I might want it to look. The hardest part about making linocuts is figuring out the positive and negative spaces and which ones to carve out of the block. Being able to play with the design on the computer before carving makes things SO much better. This variation of this design was my favorite out of all the ones I came up with. This is how the design might look if I were to carve out the negative space (all the dark areas) and use white ink on a dark background. Texture was for added effect. The actual prints won't be that distressed unless I make them that way.
The next two examples are how it would look if I carved out the positive space (all the white areas) and printed with black ink on both a colored background and white. I'm currently set up to print black on white.

I actually like this rough draft more than any of the other versions you have online.

Linocut is a method of printmaking that uses carved pieces or linoleum, synthetic material, or rubber to make prints.
Here's a couple I've done that actually shows the carved block beside the print. I also have a video showing the entire process here . This is how I'm going to attempt to make the Vinyl Scratch image except I'll use white ink on dark paper.

this is very impressive. Linoleum is a tough material to work with.

Haven't cut it yet. This is just a mock up.
But yes, linoleum is very difficult to work with, but so satisfying when it turns out right and you get a perfect pull off the block.

Not yet but will be. This is just me playing with the layout to get an idea on how to carve the block.
