Description Final Colored version of the Desert Queen image...

my new d&d Calishite Sword Sage

Jala (pronounced Yala) was born into a noble family that descended from a line of reknowned swordsmen and heroes. Her father, unlike most of the men in the line, was neither. Where her grandfather had stories and songs written about his exploits, her father had only snickers behind veils. He was a liar, a cheat, and a drunk. One night she and her sisters ( she has 3) were sneaking about listening to a meeting transpiring in the parlor between their father and a large well groomed man of obvious wealth and power. Her father promised the man his choice of one of his daughters in payment for a debt. The man choose Jala.

Not wanting any part of being an item to be bartered for her fathers stupid choices, she fled into the desert, taking her Grandfathers falchion with her. There she met a djinn sword master who found the young girls story intriguing, and once he realized who her Grandfather and his father’s fathers were, he felt compelled to teach her the arts of the blade.

Unbeknownst to her at the time, the Djinn had once battled her grandfather, and seeing the same spirit as his in her, the Djinn felt compelled to honor the warrior who once bested him in honest battle by taking her on as a pupil.

Once her training was completed, he set her out on the world, a woman to find her own way, never to let herself be bartered with again.

In the few years since her training, she has battled brigands and thieves all over Calimshan, enough so that a bounty was put on her head and she was forced to flee to the Moonsea region.

Side note, Jala means Clarity in Arabic. Which I thought was fitting for a swordsmaster.

You know I'm still playing with coloring, cuz I suck, but I'm actually really happy with this pic... The idea of the character really is a girl who's dad sold her into a harem, but she got wind of the transaction, and before the buyer could cash in, she fled her home, picked up her grandfathers scimitar on the way out (whom I'm thinking will still be alive and some former swashbuckling bad ass whom her father hated) who she idolized, and set out on her own.

Hence the Harem outfit (I like the idea of unarmored folk, makes them seem more skilled IMO! lol

yay!

I think I'm gonna call her Jala, it's an arabic name meaning Clarity... seems to make sense for an expert swordswoman right?
