Meanwhile I appreciate that as well. I was always a summer girl
but not anymore. The - new - violent storms in summer are scary
and I'm always happy when no damage was done. But not today...
It was a bad thunder storm with hail and so dark. And yes my flowers have suffered...

No they didn't and they look crap...

Its a rose bush which we planted for Toby and the roses
look sad. They almost on the ground, but well hopefully
they will recover. Toby is always in our mind...

Have a     to relax...

Aww...Toby...I hadn't thought about him in such a long time. Maybe it was his way of reminding me of him and the joy he brought to both you and Bruno

Toby is always still on our mind...  Still sadly missed  after years...

Life has to go on: Love Timmy to bits meanwhile, if I just could have both of them...

Now after a very hard time with Timmy (he was very difficult destroying everything and bite us several times) he is the sweetest
friend and watchdog ever... But meanwhile I know he had a bad early puppy time at the pony farm were he came from...

So it is... Happyjack and Toby have now a ball in heaven...

Toby  is awesome although he is not healthy... Still have to give him 10 mg of Cortison
every day to get rid of his colon dicitis - since February 2014... Really hope Applejack
is fine...

For sure...if they didn't get kicked out by now

Wow...I am sorry to hear that. I hope it doesn't have any side affects. Pedigrees are so much trouble and worry. But we love them just the same but I don't think I will ever get another one. I had mixed breeds all my life and they never got sick.

He's get better now. I had him out the other day when it was really hot and humid and he overheated. The first time he has ever had such a strong reaction to the hot weather. Meri got so scared because of the labored breathing he was having that she made us all go to the emergency vet at 4AM to have a vet look at him at a cost of $450. They told and did absolutely nothing for us. I knew he would be OK. We went to our regular vet the later that day and he told us it was heat exhaustion and he will be fine in a couple of days.

bindii In reply to Trippy4U [2014-06-28 20:20:32 +0000 UTC]

No way they are the goody goodies !

Yes we too. And yes we knew when we got him but we don't care and originally
we wanted to have a mixed breed too. But sometimes it has its purpose in life to take another decision
so we didn't opted for a  pure breed and although not the healthiest one he is still our baby which
we do everything for him that he has a good and happy life... We cherish the time while he is with us and do everything that he is a happy dog.
We know that Swiss Bernese won't get very old but hey perhaps he will!

Sorry to hear that. I told Bruno. He thinks that A.J. has picked up something (food, crap) which was not good for him.
Perhaps he was bloated and this gives a really violent reaction beside the heat.... Scary and a dejâ-vue.... But in future try to keep him cool and no gassy food!
No weed!!! Just proteines, veggies (carrots, potatoes) etc.

The emergency vet is a money machine and a time waste... Sorry to say so. I really understand Meri but next time I would dash to the regular vet and
if he is not available he hopefully will have a emergency number for the next vet hospital.

Or was it the emergency vet...

Hope the NYC Veterinary Hospital would be of any use in future if you need it...

Yeah I suppose they are. Now Timmy and AJ...well that's a horse of a different color. Neither of them would get past the first gate jk
They are a great energetic animal. You have the rigth grounds on which to keep him. Room to roam. My neighbor's dog Ozzie is not so fortunate. But he does get long walks twice a day. But in this heat he tries pulling the owner back into the house. When he see AJ he goes crazy and AJ does the same. They are both about the same age and equally crazy
That's a possibility what Bruno said because I did see him hack up some grass that he ate. But where he would have gotten the bad food I'm not sure. We basically only feed him Origin's, Seven Seas Fish. No wheat or byproduct junk in it.
I know, you are so right about emergency vets. They are clip-joints designed to get as much of your money as they can. They said they needed to X-ray his stomach. I knew it was bullshit but Meri was inconsolable and so I said go ahead...and shelled out the 400 bucks to have it done. The results...looks fine...maybe a little fluid in his stomach. Hah for sure...he had just drunk some water before the test.
I wanted to wait till our vet was open in the morning but Meri was too worked up and so we went to give our money away for nothing
Next time I won't go anywhere but to my vet. Only if AJ was near death would I give these bastards another dime.

Our vet told us we would have to go to the hospital with Timmy
to have an exact diagnosis. So this would have meant to be to cut
his full stomach and intestine up and take a few biopsies. No way!!!
His now on 10 mg Cortison and fine. Since 3 days we reduced to 5 mg
a day and the problems began again. So I increased it totay to 10 mg
again and BINGO! Better to have a shorter life (if so I'm not so sure about
that, than have a cruel surgery). And btw. after he was fixed he took out the
stitches by himself - and this just after 2 days... Luckily not the scd. ones which
were underneath. Well Dr. Tim the Vet couldn't believe it.... Neither did we.
Very accurate were those little treads on his doggy bed. A little swollen, a little
pink but in very good spirit. In another words: Timmy thought I know what's good for me, you
will see.

Yes do that and rely on your instincts. I really understand Meri but calm here down
next time. And if possible yes go to your vet. Look A.J. is a small dog. And with
Tim many times I thought with the same symptomes he could have a stomach turn
which is usually lethal... But hey in general we worry to much. Its good to be alert
but usually nature takes its course with a good stinking doggie fart...
And all is well.

I agree with you 100 percent...they know how to take care of themselves for the most part. They have been doing it for millenniums...ever since they started out as wolves.
Amazing Timmy...Doctor Timmy
