Description The most primitive of exoskeletal organisms on Epimethius able to breathe air unfacilitated are still tied inextricably to the water. Their legs and bodies are designed specifically to perch on the surface of ponds and lakes, feeding on phytoids that also live on the surface.

I am not sure the leg arrangement on the top right would work, thhe creature would have to be very small, but it's very visually interesting

Yes, they are very small, at most two centimeters in diameter. My inspiration for that cizid came from those ships with a sloop beneath the body; they continually propell themselves with the oar-like half of their split legs. It is a pretty big strain on plausibility, but speculative projects are all about experimentation.
