Description
Silver and sodalite (Not lapis)Filligree out of 18g wire. A personal record, with 66 solder joints all done in the same hardness of solder. Except the very last one. I hate soldering. So much.

Cool! im new to soldering. How do you go about it? Any tips?

bionic-dingo In reply to Zen-Art-Gallery [2008-01-01 01:13:28 +0000 UTC]
it's easy. just remember to flux, and that you're heating the metal, not the solder.

The thing is, im not just using metal... im using glass and plastic. I want to make metal borders for my pendants.

that's actually a completely diffirent kind of thing. in jewellery what they call "soldering" is technically "brazing" in any other metalworking area. So I braze, technically. I use a torch with silver/zinc alloy instead of a soldering iron with a tin-based alloy.
Try craftster.org. there should be some info on what you're looking for somewhere on their board.

This is so very full of awesomeness. Maybe when I win the lottery I'll buy it from you, if it isn't already sold. I'll win any day now. Yep. Count on it.
Spiffing job.

I think if I had to cold-construct all my piecies from now on, that would be OK with me.

This is stunningly beautiful, I love the flow of the wires and the delicate shape. So beautiful!
on a side note is the "Cunning Artificer" a Pratchett reference?

...yes. I'm a Pratchett-phile, and I liked the sound of it. I may put it on my business cards, just to be extra nerdy.
