I was talking with my friend nazo677 about making a reference sheet for Shardian Sans' skeleton form and I actually ended up doing it. He pretty much looks like Sans from "Undertale" with a different coat design, darker bone color and a coat color I'm still figuring out...

What makes him really different is his anatomy. He's not a real skeleton and it shows clearly when he does things with his mouth and brow bones. Much more malleable. This may be due to only a half-hearted attempt at getting his skeleton form right, or he's less skeletal than Papyrus, who has nearly perfected his own disguise.

Below is the usual nerdy fake-science ramblings and information on each part of the reference sheet as well as other facts and things that make him different from the real Sans. So if you're not interested don't worry about the rest:

Bones: Smooth and hard like bone, but malleable like flesh...It's hard to describe what he's made of exactly or how much is skeletal and how much isn't. So far only his face has shown sign of flexibility unlike a true skeleton and yes, he has lips.

Mouth: Sans' teeth are shaped like they are in his Shardian form. All of them are sharp with molars in the back for chewing, but shaped to fit his more human-like mouth in this form. Still his mouth is larger than a human's but he rarely opens it too much wider than shown in the expressions section of the sheet. He also has a tongue, gums, and a throat at all times. This is something that baffles a lot of humans when they see him with his mouth open for the first time in his form. If they know about his other form he reminds them he's not actually a skeleton. If not, he makes a joke if they ask. His teeth are whiter than his bones.

Eyes: His eye-lights are usually circular, but can dilate to vertical slit-shapes. His magic eye, which is his 'true' eye has a slit pupil and both can appear but usually only one does when he is using strong amounts of magic or feeling a very strong negative emotion. Also when his instinctive magic acts up. Both appear when he's using a LOT of magic energy usually, which is a dangerous and powerful state that drains him quicker than even his stronger magic use. Note: This applies to both forms.

Clothes: There are very subtle differences in his clothes compared to the other Sans' clothes. They are the same color as Sans' markings in his Shardian form and the white strings represent the signature whiskers all Shardians have. The fur around his collar usually lies flat but can puff up when he's agitated or dealing with a sudden scared (shocked/surprised). The slippers and hood are the same shade of white as his bones.

The shadow: I know it's silly to mention it but I love this form of symbolism. Shardians' shadows actually show their true form sometimes. Other Shardians can always see it, but those with strong magic or that look long enough can see a Shardian for what they truly are by their shadow. An ironic giveaway seeing as their power is mainly related to shadows.

Fun Facts:

-Sans yawns like a cat or dog. This is one of the few times you can see the inside of his mouth very clearly. He rarely yawns like that in his skeleton form though, having learned to yawn with his mouth closed.

-Sans' blush is still blue. He doesn't know why this is, but guesses it's related to his magic color and his flesh color (paws and mouth being blue). After all, Shardians don't blush. Not visibly in their true form anyway.

-He still has all his abilities Classic has in the game, but also the Shardian's natural ability and the Blaster power comes directly from him in Shardian form. Transforming to either form takes little energy, but when he is completely drained or incredibly weakened he is forced back instinctively to his true form.

-Sans loves space and sci-fi. He also loves the night sky and will sometimes make jokes about how he must be more wolf-like than the rest because of it. Especially when the topic is the moon.
