Description My last entry for 's Dress up Link contest.

This is Link from Majora's Mask, wearing the Couples' Mask. For those that have not played Majora, let me give you the quick run-down of that long, sad sidequest.

When visiting the Mayor's wife for the first time (as a human) you discover that her son, Kafei, has gone missing. She instructs you to wear Kafei's Mask (a mask with a resemblance to her son's face) and ask people if they might know where to find him. Upon showing a young woman who runs the local inn named Anju, you find that she knows quite a bit about Kafei. She asks you to come back to the Inn around midnight, where she will fill you in on what she knows about him.

That night, you find out that Kafei is her fiance, but ever since his proposal to her, he has gone missing. She asks you to mail a letter for her in hopes of finding and meeting Kafei, and when you finally do meet him you find that he has been transformed into a child by the Skull Kid. He is ashamed of his current state, and refuses to meet with Anju again until he can break the curse and get back a valuable mask.

That valuable mask is the Sun's Mask, and in that time, the Sun's Mask was worn by the groom when proposing his utmost love to his bride (wearing the Moon's Mask) during the wedding. That mask was stolen by a theif named Sakon, and on the third and final day, you help Kafei steal back his mask from Sakon's intricate hideout.

Unfortunately, by the time Kafei gets back to town, it is already midnight, and the clock starts ticking down towards the world's end. When Kafei and Anju finally meet again, Tatl (the fairy) remarks, "The look like mother and child, but they're really lovers..." Kafei and Anju greatly appreciate all the help that Link has done, and they reward him with the coveted silver Couple's Mask. Afterwards, they vow that no matter their appearance, no matter their age, no matter what happens, they will be together. I found this terribly sweet and sad, because they already know that by 5:00, the moon will crash into the earth, and they will die.

I've always loved this sidequest, but I thought that just being rewarded the Couples' Mask without any special properties was a bit disheartening. I mean, the story is fantastic, but I know many people who didn't do that long sidequest because all they received was a dinky mask. I thought, well hey! If Link received some sort of special powers while wearing the mask, I bet everyone would feel all content and accomplished. Thus, I give you the Sun and Moon Link.

SunMoon Link can achieve mighty sword blows to the enemy regardless of their defenses, and is nearly as powerful as Fierce Deity Link. The drawback is that each attack consumes a large amount of MP, and when your MP runs out, you turn back to normal Link. His outfit is inspired by the Sun and Moon masks that combine to form the Couples' Mask.

aw, I knew I'd get a normal mask, even though that, I still did the side quest just to help them...so sad if you accidentally skip a part and Anju's not their when Kafie goes back...

i would have expected the couples mask to give you like a regen effect. Sun and moon link does sound awsome though.

That's a good idea; I've never thought about it like that before. Thanks for commenting. x3

Aw, what a cool concept! Very good drawing, but the concept is what brings it all together. Nice work, all of your submissions for this contest have been exceptional!

Thanks, Emu-san. I really really loved Majora's Mask for it's storyline, I had to reflect that side story in SOME way.
