Redline for
Original: [link]

This was a really tricky redline! I honestly could not find any photo refs for a running/jumping wolf from this angle (hence much of the delay in completion of this redline). If anybody reading this can find any, please please please comment! I mostly relied on side view references, as well as stills from a few videos I found.

All of that being said, I do think that you were headed in the right direction in your original drawing. I mostly just did some minor tweaking.

To start, I think it's helpful to draw a simple, side-view drawing of the pose you're trying to capture before drawing the pose from a more challenging angle such as this. It gives you a good reference of where everything should end up in your final drawing. It's hard to visualize things from such a tricky angle!

The main things I changed in my redline involved the angles of the limbs. More specifically, I made everything turn inward a bit more. This helps prevent the legs from looking too stiff and unnatural.

I think one of the biggest challenges with an unshaded line drawing like this is capturing the perspective. From this angle, things are just going to look odd without the context of shading. Foreshortening always tends to make things look bizarre and warped without it, even when you're doing things right!

My final suggestion would be to watch videos of wolves in motion. Nothing helps you capture the feeling of motion quite like actually seeing the subject in motion!

That's about all I have to say. As always, I highly encourage critique! I don't want to spread false information in my redlines, and I can't improve as an artist if I don't notice my own flaws.
I hope you found this redline helpful!

maybe you can try to form out the ribcage a bot more and make him skinnier at his pelvis.
