old news now, but I saw this tutorial years ago on here and thought it was genius! It really got me into photoshop because of it's photo-realism. I have no idea why people are being negative, this is really awesome!
Thanks for this

Don't just add a new channel. You have to hit the "create channel from mask" button, looks like a dotted circle on the channel palette.

bah, i'm an idiot.
i'm also using PS7, so noticed a few things i had to do that weren't mentioned.
up to step four i'm fine (i should point out that in PS7, you need to rasterize the layers before the cutouts work - or hitting delete just deletes the layer).
step five (and just to let you know, you've got it going: steps 1,2,3,4,4,6,7,8,9,10, finished) though just screws with me.
i add the channel and it all stays black. looks nothing like the example.
no white shape to blur, nothing but the outline from the Ctl+Click.
anyway.. if you feel like helping me out, reply please?

just what i needed.
so ~spliffo was wrong, i've got a use for it.
and jk1150 is an idiot (i looked at his UserPage.. or should i say AbusePage?).
from the sounds of it, some people couldn't use it too well.
hopefully they were... well, thick to be blunt, but not polite.
and hopefully i wont be thick either.
i'll leave you a note or comment if i get it working and work it into the image i'm working on.

"...re-submit it and i can download maybe note me when you done that"

I can't. There were only two copies of this tutorial; one on my website and one here. My hosting is done so I can't access that file.

I've been getting a lot of comments, notes and IM's about this and my other tutorials and that's all there is to it.

If Devart doesn't fix thier problems, nothing can be done to help you.

I tried to follw this and it was dificult to understand. It seems as if there were things left out. Good idea and design, bad tutorial job.

This is great; you can use this effect not just for razor blades! You can make other stuff with this hehe!
