Description
Download for full view!At long last, the piece I've been working on for the past... two? three? months. For a friend! Conceptualized as desktop wallpaper, hence the dark backdrop.
I started this way too detailed, and it came back to bite me - after starting hi-def it's tough to go back down! So it's over half photoreferenced, some real life reference from the jungle outside, and largely like a huge painful study, but hey, when rusty art-wise, photorealism is a good place to start! I'll upload some closeups in scraps later and link them here.
Edit: close-ups here! [link]
Longer than it's ever taken, Painter + Photoshop.
...yeaah this also means it isn't a photo/photomanip, guys. Heh.

It's a travesty that this only has 54 favorites and everytime i look at this I realize it's not the pageviews or the favs but it's the quality of art.

Thanks hun, that means much to me! Though, I'd say, it also depends on the purpose of the art (which can even dictate "quality"). For instance--is the work meant to be sold? To showcase a story to the greatest audience? To give the artist herself a sense of pleasure and accomplishment? All a bit different, and not always mutually exclusive.
B'still. Thank you!

Wow, I applaud you at finishing this in such a timely manner! It would have taken me three times as long [procrastination keep me from lots of things]. Amazing work!

-bows- Granted, I think I owe someone a piece of art that I promised them about three years ago. Oh well, they were warned (I said to expect it around 2015)! Thanks though C:

Eheh it is a rare person who calls three months speed! I quite admire folks who do real speedpaintings that look practically photorealistic from afar *_*

Scaling down makes everything better! Copious photoreferencing doesn't hurt either. B'thanks.
Also, your icon. Is. Um. Captivating. Yeaah.

That is so beautiful. I am always awed by photorealism. This is so fantastic. I love the rock and the leaves look so real. They remind me of the plants I used to have in my old backyard. I'm just speechless and ranting. That tiger is so beautiful... I love the paws.

Aw, thanks, glad ye like it - especially the rock, I'm quite proud of that, it was less directly referenced and more properly painted!
Notably, that must've been some awesome backyard you had there, though.

The rock is fantastic! I love rocks.
It was! I mean, the plants were all in a very large planter against the back wall, but it always reminded me of a jungle. ^^
